Four Fairies and a Prince invites you to it’s pop-up shop at 330 Kings Road, London from the 20th of April to the 5 May, 2015.

Invitation - All Welcome

Something for everyone

They will showcase its Scandinavian-Dutch quality clothing, accessories and toys for children aged between one and ten years old. I absolutely love their website – there something for your handsome Prince and little fairy, from clothes, to wands to party accessories.  It’s in collaboration with Cecilia of Scandinavian Fashion and Andraya from MeMe London, so there will be something for adults and children alike.

Stylish Child Friendly Holidays

It seems like an oxymoron to have Stylish and Child in the same sentence however according to numerous reports from friends – The One and Only in Mauritius, Martinhal in Portugal and Zighy Bay in Oman seem to have cracked it.

They cater for the whole family in an idyllic and smart setting and keep the kids amused so you actually get some ‘time off’.  Some friends have returned for a repeat visit which in my books, is the biggest testament to their brilliance.

Now where is that brochure…

The Puppet Barge

I highly recommend a visit to The Puppet Barge on Regent’s Canal, near Little Venice. It is a quaint barge permanently situated on the river that delivers traditional tales to all ages using puppets on a little stage.  We went to see Town Mouse and Country Mouse which was charming.

The staff are so welcoming and accommodated our antsy 2 year old ducking and diving through the boat (I wouldn’t recommend taking one so young – the age guide is there for a reason).

There is plentiful parking next door to the barge, and if you are a bit peckish afterwards, head over the bridge to the Waterside Cafe

Book now for Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby, suitable for 3 and over on in April and May.

Clip ‘n Climb: Indoor Climbing Adventure

Clip n’ Climb does exactly what it says on the tin. You get clipped in to a harness and according to your age and experience are shown a wall in which is suitable to climb and then left to your own devices. The introduction made my 4 year old feel so at ease that he sailed up the wall – and came back down – with no problems, only to be eager to do it again and again until his hour had expired.

H going up!

H going up!

H coming down!

H coming down!

For the more intrepid there is a huge wall and vertical slide!

It is a genius idea set in a huge warehouse of the New Kings Road in Chelsea. It has been so successful, the owners are considering starting a snow dome for indoor skiing next door. Why hadn’t I tried Clip n’ Climb before? Because I didn’t fancy it – but now we are converts, I might even have my own party there!

Castleton House: Perfect Pit Stop En Route To Cornwall

If you drive with children to Cornwall from London in one hit from – hats off to you. We tried once but two hours into the journey we slowed down at a roundabout and out came a voice from the shadows ‘are we there yet?’ only for 2/3 mignons to wake up and stay awake for the rest of the journey (disruptively I add).

Gail and Peter’s family run bed and breakfast in the heart of Mere, is perfectly placed to get the main load of the journey out the way and prepare you for second leg after a comfortable night sleep and a hearty breakfast. No need to unpack the baby paraphanalia from the car either as they are well equipped for families. They also have toys and a safe area for little ones to play!

Clydey Cottages: Wales Farm Stay

‘Wakey Wakey Mr Goat’ enthused both boys repeatedly in the car journey home from Clydey Cottages in Wales. It wasn’t annoying as it was spat out with numerous giggles which echoed the wonderful time they had at ‘The Best Farm Stay in Wales’ according to many local and national award bodies.

My holiday mantra since having 3 children (usually defensively as don’t embark on them as frequently as I would like) is ‘same sxxt, different place’. However that was before we went to Clydey which caters for all ages – from the beautiful and well equipped cottage (no need to hike high chair, baby bath, potty and even baby Bjorn with you) to the incredible soft play and play room with sky tv and coffee machine for mummy and daddy to boot.

The essence of Clydey is the animal feeding with farmer Malcolm who patiently manoeuvres all the children around the farm each morning making sure everyone gets a go.

Pay it a visit, you will love it!

Soft Play: Love It Or Hate It

So many of my friends curl there noses up at the suggestion of meeting at soft play that I have stopped asking and just cut it down to the hardcore who can hack it. I don’t just hack it. I LOVE it. My children were born for soft play – bouncing, climbing, sliding, throwing – all the things I can’t stand them doing in our house.

I feel rather loyal to my local soft play centres – Gambardos Chelsea and Eddie Catz, Putney when they are anything but praised. I have yet to be turned off by the 1) people 2) the hecticness or the 3) lack of cleanliness, which are three of the most common complaints I hear (not about the above I hasten to add)

My 11 month old girl is a dab hand at soft play, having frequented more soft play areas that most under 5’s do in their lifetime. This is the advantage/disadvantage of two older brothers. I see it as an advantage that she gets in mix and is free to bum shuffle around as she pleases without me barking orders like a fish wife to ‘stop putting marbles in your mouth’ which she would do at home.

As Spring descends, most people get excited about getting out of the house into the fresh air. I get excited about the soft play emptying and my little brood bossing it pretty much on their tod, with a few hardcore to boot.
