Finally a few precious hours in which to get my skates on and work my way through the to do list! Obviously, a wardrobe weed (and the subsequent replenishing) is up first.  This is closely followed by a mass de-clutter of all the things we no longer need in the house and to find a place for everything we do.  Harder than it looks…

Original Print From £70 Barney and Wilf

IMG_4506

Started by two busy mums who love art, Jennifer and Catherine take your children’s little artworks and make them into beautiful big contemporary prints to display in your home.  Rather than bin your children’s drawings at the end of the day, save up the good ones, send them to Barney and Wilf. They will do all the leg work and send you back a beautiful piece of artwork.

They are offering a 15% discount for The London Mummy readers.

SellMyHome Online Estate Agents

B&W Head Shot

A friend of mine just sold her house through Sell My Home, which was started by experienced entrepreneur Will Clark. It is a full service agency working for you – all online.  She said it was easy, professional and she saved a few £££. Bonus! Worth a look if you are contemplating a move…

Cashmere Pashmina’s £59 Isla Cashmere

about-page-header

Made from 100% Scottish cashmere, these pashmina’s are incredible. They are reduced from £145 to £59 at the moment, so they are an absolute steal.  A classic investment and some very cool colours too.  Dare I even say it yet – a great Christmas present.

Rose and Wild Mint Scented Candle £25 Mrs Todd Candles

rosecandle

You won’t be able to save this candle just for special. It is handmade and burns longer than other scented candles. The scents are so original and the packaging makes them a perfect gift. If you can’t decide which one to buy, Mrs Todd will very kindly send you scent samples to help.

Steffi Leather Flat Biker Boots £59 Nine by Savannah Miller at Debenhams

051010509273

I am loving Savannah Miller’s new clothing range at Debenhams. I have my eye on these biker boots – a cool take on the classic biker boots with the addition of a studded strap and they look sturdy enough to see me through the whole of winter.  I defy you not to browse through the collection and not spy something you will LOVE.

Willow Fedora Elephant Grey/Black Lace Band £319 Penmayne of London

WillowFedoraElephantGrey-BlackLaceBand-Side

This elegant elephant grey fedora is made from 100% rabbit fur felt and trimmed with a scalloped black lace band. The hat is shaped by hat-blockers in the UK and hand-trimmed and finished in the Penmayne studio, London. I am awaiting a cool winter wedding invitation to justify a purchase. Anyone?

Coco Dress Navy £180 Madderson London

cache_570_240_3__100_Resized - Coco Navy - Front

This dress almost (I stress almost) makes me want to be pregnant again just so I can wear it.  Why didn’t I know about Madderson when I was pregnant! Send this link to every pregnant person you know… It would be a sin not to.

I Love You The Purplest by Barbara M Joose £9.59 from Wordery

61M2NSDfekL._SY480_BO1,204,203,200_

If you have every been backed into a corner with awkward questions from your children, particularly ‘who do you love the most?’ this book is a brilliant way of illustrating that you don’t love anyone more than the other. It is a lovely and enchanting book and worth reading to your little ones, even if you don’t have a problem with sibling rivalry!

Gorgeous Gifts For A New Baby

Getting a new baby card, let alone a present beyond baby number 1 is always a lovely surprise.  It’s particularly handy when it is from a high street shop as it is simple to return if it isn’t ‘the right size for the right season!’

However, it is ultra special to receive something off piste that you wouldn’t have stumbled upon yourself at the local shopping centre. Here are a few interesting little presents that you can order for your friends new arrival from the comfort of your sun lounger!

Sorting Your Wardrobe Woes

If like me, you are only now thinking of your families (inadequate) summer wardrobe, I have just the answer. I am sure many of you have come across the divine Milliemanu childrenswear.

It was launched in 2010 by Camilla Ridley after she couldn’t find exactly what she was looking for to dress her daughter Emmanuelle.

mail.google.com

It has grown since then and is now stocked internationally in stores such as Fenwicks and Igloo.  There is currently a fab summer sale with 40% off which will totally save your bacon in the summer style stakes. Here are a few of my top pics.

Her new venture, Ridley London was launched this season with the aim of making better fitting sumptuous silk garments made to empower women to look and feel their best. Having piloted some womenswear alongside milliemanu events she discovered a huge need for shirts and dresses to be made to fit the individual. With her team of dedicated London based seamstresses, it is possible to bring this personalised service to her customers.

pampeano: Argentine Craftmanship Combined With British Luxury

Recently I have seen a few waists accentuated with ultra smart woven belts. They have all happened to be from the same company – pampeano.

The company was set up by Jenny, who spent a lot of time in Argentina in 2007 riding and wandering around bars and cafes. She totally fell in love with the Argentine lifestyle, the horsemanship, the food and the products and particularly the leather goods. She had a sense that continuing the rich Argentine heritage of leather and polo would be very well received by discerning Europeans, and so pampeano was started.  pampeano houses the finest polo equipment and their eponymous, exquisite, pampeano polo belts.  pampeano means ‘from the Pampa’, an area of Argentina renowned for its vast rolling plains and beautiful estancias.

Their products use only premium-grade, butter-soft, vegetable tanned Argentine leather and the highest quality saddlery threads. Each polo belt has been skilfully made in Argentina by true artisans, each one taking four to five hours to hand craft and weave, creating a product that will last for many years and will only improve with age.

With this in mind, each product has been expertly designed and developed in Great Britain to ensure that we continually remain on trend throughout the changing seasons. No two are quite the same, making them as individual as the people who wear them.

I love the dog collars too!

Will definitely be purchasing one for a Father’s Day present and with any luck, hubby will share it!

Millie Pink : Hot Hair Accessories

image
I’m a bit of magpie when it comes to brightly coloured accessories, so when I saw a few of the mother’s wrists at the school gates adorned with funky fabrics, I had to investigate. I was informed about a fantastic new website, Millie Pink.

Millie Pink was started by Kirsten, who was fed up with boring black hair ties that were too ugly to wear on her wrist and seemed to disappear as quickly as she could buy them, Kirsten set about to bring beauty and glamour to manes and wrists across Britain. It didn’t take long before she stumbled across some gorgeous foldover elastic in the most mouth-watering colours & funky prints and Millie Pink, named after her daughter Millie, was born.

Each hair tie is handmade in Berkshire with oodles of love and patience. Made from a super soft and stretchy fabric, Millie Pink hair ties will not only be incredibly kind to your hair, they look pretty cool on your wrist.

Beulah London: An Answer For All Occasions

Natasha and Lavinia spent two months in Delhi with women who had been trafficked in October 2009. They then set up Beulah in 2010, after witnessing the harrowing effects of trafficking with an aim to create a business which could employ the victims and provide them with a sustainable, alternative livelihood.

Natasha and Lavinia

Natasha and Lavinia

The SS15 collection has been inspired by the concept of ‘Inner Beauty’. This season they have looked to clients need for dresses for all occasions: each piece is a timeless wardrobe staple with a nod to the seasonal trends.

The work of photographer Don Dudenbostel who’s X-ray photographs capture the hidden inner beauty in objects of nature is referenced throughout the collection. Garments have an intricate attention to detail influenced by the quote, ‘True beauty comes from within’. The focus is on luxurious fabrications of silk satin, printed silk chiffons and introducing a decorative embroidered lace for true occasion.

There is nothing like a browse through beautiful clothes to pick you up on a grim day. These are a few of my favourite’s –

Wear & Where: Fashion Blog

I’m pretty stoked to have Alex Gorton under the Spotlight.  Her and her friend Natasha run my favourite blog, Wear & Where.  Every post that falls into my inbox gets devoured immediately or at least earmarked for later. There is never a surreptitious delete (like some I subscribe to and delete almost before I have read the title #nevermyfriendsblogsthough).

image

Alex

Wear & Where started a few years ago when Natasha and Alex (former colleagues and firm friends) were talking about what they wanted to read on the web. Unable to find everything they wanted in one place, they decided to write it themselves. Drawing on their backgrounds as journalists, they created a place to share all their interests from fashion to family, interiors to travel, health and beauty, and everything in between. With 5 children between them, they are very much in the family mindset and their readers tend to be gorgeous, bright, brilliant women, most with children (although not all) with an interest in style.

I particularly loved one of their latest posts on Spring Shoes and can’t wait for all the other exciting plans they have for Wear & Where in the future.

There is no stopping them. Sign up to their brilliant blog to be kept in the loop on all things cool.

Rose Rankin: Sneakers

If years were named after shoes and not animals (!), 2015 would be the year of sneakers. From neon’s (thank you Nike) to wedge (Isabel Marant) – everyone has a pair that they wear on a day to day basis, not just for sport. (All that sport I do…)  Given the erratic British weather patterns and the amount we pound the pavements, there is also a reason to invest in a new pair, and I highly recommend looking at Rose Rankin’s new website for some eye candy.

Rose Rankin is a new premium footwear label with an emphasis on sneakers. They are handmade in Portugal from the finest materials and carefully stitched by traditional shoe makers. The brand is characterised by understated design and subtle detailing, combined with a love of colour. Her first collection combines feminine tones, colour pops and metallics to give a playful patchwork aesthetic.
image

After Rose’s second daughter was born, she decided to make the leap to being her own boss, doing something that she loved. She  took at short course in the business of fashion at Portobello Business Centre and then set about the daunting tasks of finding factories and convincing them that her paper drawings were worth bringing to life!

Her motivations were two fold: Firstly, with the rise of luxury sportswear she felt there was a gap for beautifully handmade sneakers, designed specifically for women and at a more accessible price than other luxury brands on the market. Her second motivation was buying her kids funky little trainers and she wanted to inject some of that playful feeling into her shoes.

Well, I think she has definitely done just that.
