TLM Monthly Edit : October 2015

The change in season prompted a wardrobe weed, so on my hunt for new items to shake up my wardrobe, I wanted to share some fab websites I have found!

The Idle Parent, Tom Hodgkinson

Before I share my few fashion finds, I have to recommend a book that a lovely friend of my husband recommended to me. I am not a naturally quick reader but I flew through ‘The Idle Parent’ in 24 hours as it was THAT good. I found myself shouting ‘Yes!’ quite a bit and am totally encouraged by Tom’s ‘on the money’ advice. Read with a highlighter as there is so much good advice. Here’s to a happy and peaceful Autumn term…

Little Circle

The concept is simple. Buy the most chic clothing from us. Your children will wear them and love them. When they are too small, send them back to us and we sell them. Use your credit from the sale to refresh your child’s wardrobe… and so the little circle goes on.

The Little Shoemaker

I came across this website on one of my Instagram grazing evenings and was touched by beauty and effort that go into these handcrafted shoes. There is so much competition with cheap imported children’s shoes (and the rest) that I really wanted to support this lovely little business by sharing it with you.

Neon Boots – Grey & Pink £150

As you may know by now, I love a bit of neon. However when the days get shorter and a bit more gloomy it feels wrong to go all out neon. These give a little nod in the neon direction. Yeehaa.

Rae Feather – Monogram Clutch £120

This is a lovely website to peruse and these personalised clutches are d.i.v.i.n.e. You should see the bags too!

Lascana Bustier £19 Zalando

Mayne I am late to this party with this website, but hey ho – it is amazing. There seemed to be top end, think Net a Porter and lower end like ASOS and Boohoo and no middle ground. Zalando covers this much needed market and I am hooked! I love this bustier that would look good under a sheer top at a Christmas party!

Amelia Bainbridge : Auree Jewellery

Having had a jewellery sabbatical for the last five years – I haven’t trusted a little tot not to pull it out of my ear or off my neck – it is time I start adorning myself with something a little bit more glamorous than a lonely hair tie. I have just the place to start – Auree Jewellery.

Amelia always wanted to set up something for herself and having worked in the jewellery world for nearly 10 years, she thought it was about time to get on and do it. Georgie Jones: Arambha

Georgie was living in Ethiopia with her husband and 2 small boys for 2 years. She was inspired by the rich culture, vibrant colours and century old techniques there, so she decided to look into working with some of the very talented local artisans. Through meeting various people along the way, she came across groups training and working with people from some of the poorest areas in and around Adidis Ababa and founded Arambha, which sells ethically made clothes, shoes and accessories.

The groups Georgie works with provide sustainable jobs and lifestyle for all their employees – they are housed, fed and their children are educated. They also pay a fair wage which is very rare in Ethiopia. Along side all of this, all the materials used for her Arambha collection are locally sourced, handmade using traditional techniques and equipment and where possible, recycled.

Not only are the children’s moccasins amazing, Georgie also has a fab collection of things for women too. I adore the women’s moccasins – uber cool and very comfy.

Children’s Liberty Clothes : High Street Prices

Mamas and Papas have collaborated with Liberty to make a gorgeous collection for little ones, all at (the steeper end of) high street prices. As I have mentioned before I love a bit of Liberty print, so I was delighted when I walked into Mamas and Papas this morning and saw this collection. There is even a a bow tie/braces combo for the little guy!
