End of Tenancy Cleaning in A Hurry?

One of our major headaches when we rented out our house was the end of tenancy clean. I wish I had known about Nick and his Anyclean team, who I have handed over the reins to today. So if you need an end of tenancy clean – read on!

LogoSometimes, you need to leave town in a hurry. No, not because you’ve done something you shouldn’t – that’s another story – but because something’s changed in your life that requires a quick move. For example, you may have landed that great new job but so that you don’t spend most of your spare time commuting, it’s going to mean moving across to the other side of London – or to the other side of the country… or the world. Or you might finally have managed to put enough together to buy your own home so you want to move out of your rental accommodation into the new place as soon as you can. Or maybe your landlord’s selling up and the new owner of the place you’re renting wants you to move out (bad luck!).

Whatever the reason, there are times when speed is essential. However, an important part of moving out of is doing the clean-up.

anyclean-london-full-house-cleaning-service

If you’ve had to pay a deposit at the start of your tenancy (very common – a lot of landlords require this because there are some rotters out there renting homes, not like you) then you probably want it back again, especially if you have to move from one rented flat to another somewhere else. This means that you have to leave the house, whether furnished or unfurnished, in good condition. Even if you were lucky enough not to have to pay a deposit, it’s still just plain old good manners to clean up your mess before you leave simply because, well, how would you like to have to go into a place that’s been left in a mess?

As my mum always said, it’s nice to leave things better than you found them.

tenancy-house-deep-clean-anyclean-london

However, if you have to move out of your home, then you’ve probably already got enough on your to-do list, especially if you’ve got a family and/or pets in tow. You’ve got an entire household to pack up, transport to arrange, new schools to find and maybe even a farewell party or two to attend.

What Not to Bother About When You Move Out

Wait before you declutter.

OK, moving house is often touted as a great time to get rid of some of the junk that you’ve stuffed in the cupboards but the truth is that when you have to move in a hurry, you don’t have time to sort through all your stuff. The secret here is to get rid of obvious junk and rubbish thatyou encounter when you empty out the kitchen cupboards or whatever, but save the process of deciding whether you need something in your life or not to when you unpack at the other end.

Skip fancy cooking.

Yes, you may be a bit fan of Jamie Oliver’s 15-minute meals but these require a bit of organisation and preparation – and for you have all your kitchen equipment accessible, which might not be the case if you’ve already lobbed your blender and saucepans into the box labelled “Kitchen”. There are times when it seems that preparing and eating food just makes fresh mess to tidy up. This is one time when you’re allowed to eat most of your meals at the local Indian takeaway or to live on pizza.

Don’t pack everything!

Leave the kettle and your favourite mugs until the last moment so you can have a cuppa to restore your sanity while packing.

Places You Need to Check When Moving Out

It’s when you move out, especially in a hurry, that you suddenly realise how many odd nooks, crannies and corners there are in your home. Even if you call on a professional cleaning company to clean these odd spots, it’s still a wise idea to look inside them to see if you’ve left anything there.

Who knows – you might come across something you’d thought you’d lost.

Here’s a few places that you will probably need to check out, especially if you’re moving out from a furnished home:

· behind the sofa and behind any other large items of furniture like the fridge (this is usually the moment you discover how badly the carpets need to be cleaned)
· under the sofa cushions (not so many coins down there these days but other things still show up)
· weird storage spaces like under the house, in the roof or behind the garage
· built-in wardrobes
· in the hot water cupboard
· around the garden or outdoor spaces (there can be quite a few children’s toys in odd places like under bushes or in the flower beds)
· under the beds
· inside the oven, including in the warming drawer. Pull the warming drawer right out and look underneath it, as cake tins and pie dishes sometimes wriggle their way over the back and down
· inside the dishwasher, especially if the dishwasher is one of the fixtures. It can be all too easy to overlook a few spoons that fall down below the racks

Anyclean’s Professional Post Tenancy and Checkout Cleaning Service

Of course, if you’re really pressed for time and you want to make sure that you leave everything as you found it (if not better) so you can get your deposit back, your best bet is to call on somebody who has all the time in the world and who really knows how to get into those dark corners. This is where you can rely on end of tenancy cleaning services provided by Anyclean London. They’ve got teams of experienced professional cleaners who know the proper standards back to front, and working their way through standard checklists that meet these standards whether you are moving out of an unfurnished property or a furnished property. Even if you’re renting from a stingy tightwad Mr or Ms Fussy of the sort who’s reluctant to hand back the deposit because of little specks of fly crap on the window, evidence from the company (e.g. a receipt and a copy of the checklist) should be enough to back you up.

screen-shot-2019-03-26-at-12-30-33

All of Anyclean’s work is fully insured with an added 100% satisfaction guarantee as a peace of mind. This guarantee states that if you’re not perfectly happy with how well something has been cleaned, then all you have to do is to let the office know all about it and explain why you think things should have been done better.

Anyclean will duly send the team back to do what’s needed – at no extra cost to you.

Speaking of cost, the company uses a transparent fixed pricing scheme. This means that it doesn’t matter how long the job take – you’ll get the same fixed price that you were quoted when you made the booking. Avoiding giving their customers nasty surprises, Anyclean goes a long way in making everybody happy.

If you need more than what the end of tenancy cleaning teams will do, such as window cleaning or deep cleaning for carpets, then Anyclean can help you out with this as well. In fact, if you book in for carpet cleaning and for end of tenancy cleaning at the same time, you’ll get a discount on the carpet clean!

cleaning

Anyclean operates in all parts of the Greater London Metropolitan Area (inside the M25 ring) and are more than happy to provide moving out cleaning services for flats, homes, apartments and shared homes both furnished and unfurnished. In fact, if you can live in it, they can clean it!

Ballpix Personalised Rugby & Footballs

The look of delight on my boys faces when they saw their surname planted on a professional sized Gilbert rugby ball during the six nations game last weekend was brilliant. The only problem was the squabbling over who got to play with it. With the Rugby World Cup this year, this would be top of most kids birthday list! The other bonus is it arrives in a box fully blown up!BallPix

Sanoflore  Organic Skincare for Problem Skin

I have been using the Rosa Angelica rage for dehydrated skin for a couple of weeks and it certainly has made my skin feel nourished and bouncy. I apply the serum straight after a shower before the moisturiser and it helps my skin absorb the moisturiser more effectively. If you have a skin concern and also want to be assured you are using a company that is doing all they can to protect and give back to the environment, Sanoflore is a well priced place to start.

A Lovely Countryside Stay : The Wellington Arms, Stratfield Turgis

After a few weeks back into the routine of clubs, parties and admin at the weekends – it’s nice to get away from it all and have a change of scene. The problem is – if you type into your search engine ‘family hotel near London’ quite a few appear. That’s why it’s good to have a personal recommendation and I have one for you!  The Wellington Arms in Stratfield Turgis, Hampshire was refurbished at the end of last year and has recently just opened up 25 new bedrooms too.  Situated less than a mile from the M4, Junction 11, so only an hour from Central London it is the perfect destination for a quick weekend in the countryside.

Wellington Arms

With stylish interiors and a plenty of space, there area few different areas to relax and eat, whether you would like formal dining, eat at the bar or even reserve your own area for a private event (they have a HUGE screen that would be fun to watch a match on!)

We had decided on having a large lunch as we had friends visit for drinks in the evening.  The sharing platters at the bar went down very well indeed!

The bedrooms were well equipped with a mini bar (very important) TV (a real treat to have the opportunity to watch daytime tv) and I especially loved the metro chic bathrooms with the huge slipper bath which I emerged myself in for the good part of an hour.

We stayed as a couple but as we are familiar with the area, I can highly recommend the Wellington Country Park as a lovely family day out. Situated close by and around a lake, there is an adventure playground, a dinosaur park, a magical train, jumping cushion, go carts and a lovely cafe.

If you are feeling really adventurous, book a lesson at Wellington Riding  It is a beautifully appointed well equipped equestrian centra, again very close to the Wellington Arms. Go for a coffee and watch a lesson at the indoor riding school or stock up on your tack in the wonderful equestrian shop.

wellington riding

Before you head back home, be sure to stock your cupboards, fridge and freezer  at the Wellington Farm Shop. The fresh produce is magnificent and it is one step above your normal farm shop, with a lovely interiors shop, cafe, playground and a few animals dotted around!

World Book Day Costume Ideas

The speed at which World Book Day comes around each year feels as fast as Christmas does. Next Thursday is the day that we all panic and raid the fancy dress box as we realise we haven’t prepared… ok perhaps that’s just me? Whether you are prepared or need some fresh ideas, Emily from Parrot Street (a monthly book subscription for children between 5 – 11) is sharing some simple ideas that aren’t too difficult to recreate, won’t cost a bomb and still celebrate everything that is fun and fantastic about books. Thank you Emily!

Raid The Wardrobe

The easiest option is to use clothes that your child already owns and just add a few props. For the little girl from The Paper Dolls we attached a cardboard butterfly to a hairclip but, of course, the outfit wouldn’t be complete without our own versions of Ticky, Tacky, Jackie the Backie, Jim with two noses and Jo with a bow!

Paper Dolls

For Tom Gates we created a cardboard guitar and simply added one of his favourite treats, a caramel wafer! And for Claude and Sir Bobblysock we bought a cheap red beret from eBay, attached a sock to a red jumper and created a black collar from ribbon and a chocolate coin wrapper.

Tom Gates

Dig In The Dressing Up Box

What about using a costume from your dressing up box and simply adjusting it to become a book character? Furry ears and a face-painted nose combined with pjs and a dressing gown make for the perfect Mr Bear from Peace at Last.

Mr Bear

Cardboard Crafting

Making a cardboard tabard, connected at the shoulders with ribbon or string, is very easy to do (assuming you have a large box to hand). We just cut out the shape of this boogying pear from The Kitchen Disco before giving it a few coats of green paint!

Kitchen Disco

Get Really Creative

These last few ideas require sewing or fabric glue but if that doesn’t put you off they are pretty simple to recreate. Rosie Revere’s dress is a large white t-shirt – we just glued red and black ribbon to the bottom to make the stripes. We bought a cheap polka dot bandana from eBay and made her toolbox from a cardboard box.

Rosie Revere

Finally, we couldn’t resist recreating a beautiful parakeet from Parrots Don’t Live in the City. We slipped a green pillowcase onto each arm, secured it to the jumper and then got to work cutting the shape of the feathers. We glued some of the green fabric to a simple mask and added a cardboard beak!

Parrots

None of these costumes quite right for you?

The girls at Parrot Street have created a download of over 30 more simple ideas and are sharing it as a welcome gift for anyone that joins their mailing list before 7th March.

NEW BRAND ALERT : loved by Da (& her Ultimate School Run Trousers)

Loved By Da LOGO

It’s rare to see a new business develop from the get go. Mostly I am sent a new website once it is up and running but not with loved by Da. I have been privileged to see it grow from conception last year when Amanda spoke of wanting to start her own business of all the clothes and accessories she personally loved, to having her first collection LIVE on her amazing website this February.

Headshot

Amanda (her nickname is Da – hence the Da in her company name) is super stylish and has an ability to put together colours and outfits that only a few women can! Her enthusiasm for what she is doing is tangible too.

For me, fashion is just as much about looking good as feeling good and if you can do this with minimal effort and a reasonable price tag you’re onto a winner in my book.

To kick off she has created The Ibiza Collection – a trio of gorgeous, one size fits all hareem style trousers. Each pair is named after her favourite places in Ibiza, a place she goes to every year.

Bora Bora

Kicking off with the Bora Bora’s (as these are the ones I have) the charcoal grey with the neon stripe down the side are absolute beauts. Named after a party bar on Playden Bossa beach, the side stripe is a nod to the neon trend this year.

Bora Bora

Old Town

These trousers have a vintage lace side stripe on charcoal grey, an ode to her favourite town in Ibiza (vintage – Old!)

Talamanca

These are on my wish list too – who doesn’t love a bit of silver & navy blue?

What I love most about these trousers, is that they are super comfortable and very versatile. Throw them on in the morning for the school run and then exercise and continue wearing them throughout the day and into the evening.

  • Trainers, jacket and scarf on the school run

  • A slouchy t-shirt for pilates/yoga

  • A pair of heels for a night out

  • Pregnant or just had a baby?

Sadly don’t have a photo of this one quite yet!!

Despite juggling a few balls (she rents out her beautiful home for location shoots and has two very active boys to name a few), Amanda has executed a perfect launch and I am excited to see what’s next!

The London Mummy Christmas Gift Guide : Kids

I had grand plans – and I had already done the infographic (picture for the post) for boys, girls, babies and teens and then life (and Black Friday) happened so I am putting anything child related into one post. Sorry (not sorry actually – I know you understand!)  This will be a big post for any kids – lingering Godchildren, nieces, nephews, new babies and not to mention your own children (!) that haven’t been ticked off after this weekends Christmas Extravaganza – then this post is for you. So, basically everyone – because who has all their shopping done by the end of November. Weird people.

I’m not going to categorise into groups either – just to be really 2018 😉

Personalised Stationary from Small Signatures

I am super impressed with this new brand. Easy to order and beautifully presented personalised writing cards. A great incentive to write thank you cards after Christmas if they have their own name on them (and you can also choose a symbol at the top too – like cricket stumps – yes that’s what we have!)

It’s quite hard to get a 10+ in matching PJs but you can get the same effect with these pyjama bottoms and a white t shirt. Starting from age 10 to adult – these are a perfect present for a tween & teenage boy!

Lounge Pants

Bobby Bus Rascalpack from Bear & Squidge

No not another back pack – a reflective one front and back!!! Genius. Have this for my Godson when he is walking the streets at night 😉

Teen Skin Products from Spots & Stripes

The products in the chemist for teen skin are sometimes too harsh, so if you notice your teenager is in need of a bit of TLC in the skin department, hot foot it over to Spots & Stripes. Cool packaging too so can be put in stocking!

Ok, women is quite general but this guide is packed so I am sure you will be able to find a present for your fussy sister or your mother in law who doesn’t need anything. I am really trying to buy all my Christmas Presents this year from small businesses – so if Amazon is your thing – this may not be your bag, but I urge you – please just have a look. When you buy from a small business, there is actually someone at the end who sees your order and you make a real difference to!
