Yummy Festive Food & Drink On My Shopping List This Season

If we’re facing a lockdown Christmas, let’s make sure our cupboards are well-stocked and our bellies are full of yummy food throughout winter, am I right? I’ve been putting this list together for a while now — not wanting to forget about my favourite confectioners, luxury hamper sellers, and fine food purveyors during the festive season. Some of these goodies, you’ll have to order early on in order to avoid disappointment. I’m going to get a few luxury items ready on order, like turkey, meats and cheeses, then plan the trimmings nearer to the big day. It’s unlikely that most of us will make it out for a browse around Harrods or Hamleys in-person, so it’s time to scour the virtual toy shelves to find the top kids’ Christmas gifts to delight the children in your life. My list pulls together games, books, clothes, toys and a couple of things that’ll get them feeling curious, which, all together I reckon would make a pretty cool present haul for any kid on Christmas morning.

Buying for your own children always feels a bit more straight-forward; you can start picking things up and stashing them away anytime throughout the year. It’s nieces, nephews and friends’ children who I find a bit more challenging to buy for, especially if you don’t see them very often! Teach Your Children About Giving This Christmas

‘I want that for Christmas…’ for the 17th time during the adverts for Peppa Pig was starting to pain me. So we had the chat. ‘Some children don’t even have a roof over their head, let alone Christmas presents…’ The two year old drew a blank, but the boys got it! I saw an opportunity…

They really wanted to give something this Christmas – so I looked into a few ways they could do that. I hope you will find this rather refreshing after all the recent posts on Gifts!

Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal

Go and buy a few nice presents and drop them at your nearest Salvation Army. The Salvation Army are receiving new unwrapped gifts to distribute to adults and children who are homeless this Christmas.

Christian Aid Worldwide Christmas Appeal

Go online and choose a practical present for people fleeing violence this Christmas. A hygiene kit, a pair of boots and a days worth of food for a Syrian Refugee. It will also aid you in explaining that most things we take for granted.

Operation Christmas Child with Shoebox World

It’s too late to buy and send a real shoebox filled with treats, so go online and pack a virtual one for a child which they can choose the gender and age for. This then will become a tangible shoebox to children around the world.

I thought The Wellspring Charity Foundation PND Hamper was worth a mention too.

Through The Wellspring Charity Foundation PND Hamper Fighting Poverty you can donate a hamper to someone who is in financial difficulty who you suspect has PND or has been diagnosed with PND. There is even an option nominate yourself.

Another way you can donate is the NSPCC Letter To Santa

Each letter is £5 which goes straight to the NSPCC Christmas Campaign and your child will receive a personalised letter from Father Christmas. No excuse not to really!

Lastly, The Mayor of London website is a great resource to narrow down your search and find opportunities to volunteer in your borough.

Remember, actions speak louder than words and the best way to teach your children is through example, so go and volunteer, buy some presents or get online.

You could even just wear your slippers for Shelter today!

11 Ideas To Prepare You For Advent

As I am nearly half way through my Gift Guides, most of my Christmas posts will be wrapped up before December. So bear with me if you are slightly over my Christmas recommendations – this advent won’t last forever and I have some good fashion & activity round ups in the pipe line.

So for those that are as excited as a 6 year old boy on Christmas eve, I would like to introduce two charming young men who have set up From Tree To You.

Whilst I am on the subject of preparing for Christmas, fellow Mummy Blogger, Laura Rutherhood has painted some beautiful wreath paintings. They are only £18 and you can also get them personalised in the middle of the wreath!

Not one for a cheesy Christmas jumper, I thought this company was worth a mention as they are actually pretty lovely, especially if you want to give a little nod to Santa.
