TLM Monthly Edit : April 2016

Wowsers, end of April already! Have lots of exciting products, classes and a fab holiday idea on this months edit that I have been looking forward to sharing with you. Thank you to all who send in ideas – I love receiving emails of all the new business that have started and also established ones that have a new angle too.  Take a look – there is something for everyone.

Bosco London

Hugo has always been passionate about the outdoors and, as a result, developed a keen interest in wildlife. From an early age he enjoyed handcrafting objects out of whatever natural material he could find and, over the years, developed a range of bespoke products including carving knives, fork sets, shaving kits, bottle openers, priests and walking sticks. It wasn’t until he started to experiment with some antelope horn from Africa that the idea for his lights was born and, subsequently, BOSCO London was founded. They are so stylish.

Vintage Toy Art

I love these box framed vintage toy frames, which would make a very cool addition to a child’s bedroom or toy room.  They would also be a great Christening present and as they are vintage won’t go out of date.

IMG_7388

Diddi Dance

My kids have loved their Diddi Dance classes over the years and I currently go with my youngest on a Friday morning and she goes to my sons nursery each week too!  Gina is such a sweet and engaging teacher and I highly recommend them for children between 1-5.  They are nationwide and she is starting a new class in Chelsea where you are invited to trial it for free.  Cineworld, 142 Fulham Road, Chelsea, SW10 9QR on Thursday 5th May at either 9.30 or 10.30. Call her to book you and your little one in on 07426 009 179

Pampeano ‘British Flag’ Limited Edition’ Belt

This belt has been made in honour of the UK’s participation in the Olympic Games in Rio this summer. I will also be wearing mine throughout Euro 2016 (that’s what comes with having two boys). You can also have your initials embossed on it. Lots of other gorgeous designs and would make a lovely present.

Mush

A friend sent me an email entitled ‘Tinder for mums’  I am not sure that is entirely how they would like to be described but basically it is a social platform and app that you can download where you enter your postcode and ages of children and you are matched with similar mums in your areas. Easy to use and great fun and they may add ‘Nannies’ and ‘Dad’s’ in due course so watch this space.

TLM Monthly Edit : March 2016

It’s the last day if term and Spring is in the air (that’s if you don’t look at the impending weather forecast).  Here are a few delights to get you in the ‘children are at home for a while’ zone that always takes a bit of adjusting to. If nothing else, the March Edit is full of pretty things – a glorious distraction from the pile up of dishes. Enjoy!

Seraphina London

Seraphina offers fresh and colourful Indian hand-block and screen printed collections for your wardrobe and home.  The children’s pj’s are especially cute – look at these adorable blue elephant ones for the little guy in your life!

FullSizeRender(240)

Mud Kitchen

The children have been pottering outside since the arrival of Spring upped the weather, so I have been thinking about any additions to the garden that will make life easier (i.e they will stay outside for longer). A pal sent me a link to a little company that specializes in ‘Mud Kitchens’ (perfect for the garden – excuse me if I am stating the obvious). What a superb idea – I have no doubt that this would keep them amused for hours and with two basins there will be no arguing over who is doing the mixing.

FullSizeRender(235)

Shoeaholics

This has been one of my greatest finds EVER. There are lots of discounted websites now but I find it tends to be the rubbish that is left. Not with Shoeaholics. They have so many good brands and up to 80% off. I bought some Kurt Geiger black court shoes for a recent wedding reduced from £160 – £59. These flexi soled (it is all about comfy feet, I don’t care that I sound middle aged) courts from Michael Kors are a bargain at £59 from £119.

Ostrich Feather Key rings from Raspberry London £11.50

Move over Pom Pom’s – it is all about the Ostritch Feather. Rasberry London has a fab range of bright colours perfect for Spring/Summer so if you are in the running for a new keyring, grab one whilst you can.

Personalised Toy Bags from Flossie London

It is all about #shophandmade when possible.  Flora owner of Flossie & Bumble has a gorgeous little business making lovely items for around the home.  Her bespoke gifts such as cushions, doorstops and toy bags would make a lovely gift for someone. I adore Atalanta’s new toy bag with her initial stitched on the gorgeous pale pink dog fabric. The quality is high and the prices are low so please have a look at her website.

IMG_5688

Gardenia Of London

Gardenia of London deliver the most beautiful flowers Nationwide and they have a weekly/monthly subscription service where they dleiver seasonal flowers to your door. I received 1 bunch of ranunculas, tulips and anemones that was so plentiful, i was able to seprate them into two vases! They also do a flower arranging course that I clearly need to do!

IMG_5570

Kurt Geiger Kids

Kurt Geiger have a new range of kids shoes that are so sweet, I want a pair myself.  Although perhaps I draw the line at wings on my feet – I do love a bit of glitter and there is plenty of that.   The white trainers with the silver sole are super cool. We received one half through the post attached to an invitation (in the form of a helium balloon – yes, I was pretty excited too) and had to collect the other one at the party.

I love compiling my monthly edits of goodies that have bounded across my path. From the practical to the pretty, have a look at what’s in store for February.

Brox Rocks Jewellery

This is a relatively new jewellery brand that is worth a long peruse. I love their on trend jewellery. The star necklace – the silver and gold particularly – being a firm favourite. Prices are also exceptionally reasonable.

Kidzania Adults Evening 25th February

It may seem slightly odd to go to Kidzania without a child in tow, but I must say when I looked around, I wished I could make a show reel in the new Al Jazeera newsroom.  The bar area is rather smart too. Get in the zone and find your inner child.

TLM Monthly Edit : January 2016

It’s ‘admin January!’ If you have ticked off your thank you letters, sorted out the school uniform, booked in your clubs etc, hopefully you will have cleared some head space and you can now embark on the next level of your (never ending?) to do list. Here are a few products and services that are new or that I have come across recently, that should add a bit of value to your life.

Time Tokens LAUNCH OFFER £10.95

Mum of 2 Amanda Bucknall has launched an ingenious NEW way for children to limit and manage their own screen-time – reducing battles and making a happier home life.  You choose how much time they are allowed each week and give them the tokens accordingly for them to use as when they please. When the tokens run out, there is no more screen time so it enables them to pace themselves through out the week. My son loves it and is eager to be given his tokens at the beginning of the week.

Time Tokens is packaged in a fun orange wallet with 7 hours of Time Tokens vouchers, a Golden Ticket, orange timer with clip and magnet, a parent-child Promise Contract, simple short instructions and lots of fun and inspiration from a gang of friends called The Frazzles.

Reading Revival Toolkit 2

A toolkit of carefully crafted cards, books and stickers packaged in a bright plastic carry case that they say can achieve in 6 weeks what it can take a school 18 months to do – whether the child is gifted or has severe learning difficulties. Toolkit 1 is for a child with no reading ability at all and they’ll finish the toolkit with a reading age of around 7. Toolkit 2 continues the process and the child will reach full fluency with a reading age of around 11 – the ability they normally reach when leaving primary school. Click here for more information.

TLM Monthly Edit : December 2015

Christmas has crept up with no chance of compiling Christmas lists for our loved ones as it has been a mucky few months in terms of childcare (although things are now looking up – phew) so here is my December Edit with a few bits that I would have included had I done them!

A Mini Filled Christmas Stocking For Your Child’s Teddy or Doll £10

This is such a cute idea and all for a good cause too. Buy a stocking for your little one in either pink or green and leave it for their favourite teddy when they wake on Christmas morning. £2 goes to Refuge Crisis Appeal. Email Carina ministockings@gmail.com for more information.

Moonstruck £D Fiber Lashes Mascrara £23 Yoonique

Being a staunch mascara wearer, I was over excited to try this 3D mascara that would give you a false eye lash effect without the effort of ‘real’ false eyelashes. Eek. I am in love. I slightly look like I have a daddy long legs stuck to my eyes as it works SO well. (I think this is a good thing!)  Special wipes are included as once its on, it ain’t going anywhere. Perfect before a big night out!

Personalised Embroidered Basket £22 Edit 58

Personalised? Tick. Help keep things tidy? Tick. Original? Tick. Good value? Tick. Need I say more.

Character Embelished Skirt £15 Next

There are some high street shops that you can’t give as a present. Next isn;t one of them. They have upped their game recently and there smart simple styles could often be mistaken for … designer! Here is a classic example. A cute charcoal gathered skirt with grosgrain ribbon and applique little animals on it. I’m not into emblems, motifs or applique for that matter but this is charming (and it has a little red robin on it – a cheeky nod to Christmas). Alas, I had to ask the assistant to take it from my hands and place it back on the rails. My daughter doesn’t ‘need’ any more winter clothes!

Embroidered Jackets

Since having children, I have developed a steadfast uniform of black jeans and a black vest in the summer and black jumper in the winter. Obviously I am slightly exaggerating, but when I am in a rush or feeling unimaginative this is my default uniform.  Not only is it slimming/suits my colouring/is stylish, it is a great base for jazzing up with more interesting items, namely an embroidered / embellished / jacquard / beaded jacket.  Here is what’s around at the moment.  Look closely at the prices too – these can be done on a cool budget.

TLM Monthly Edit : November 2015

You would have to be a hermit not to see that Christmas is looming. As soon as the last sweet has been eaten from Halloween (by me) and the final rocket has been let off on Bonfire Night, a plastic Santa is waving his over sized hand from every shop on the high street. One thing this does do, is make me focus. Christmas Presents/ Christmas Events / Party Outfits. They all need to be ticked, ticked, ticked. I hope November’s Edit might give you a little push in the right direction before the real countdown begins.

Paige Verdugo Mid Rise Ultra Skinny in Black/Gold Solstice £250 Jax Jeans

I’m currently undecided whether I would actually wear these but as I haven’t ever seen anything similar before, I thought they were worthy of being featured. No doubt this style will hit the high street in the coming months, but if you want them at the beginning of the silly season, check out Jax Jeans. They also have some other gems.

Ultimate Bikes

Until I had my bike serviced by Ultimate Bikes, it felt like I was peddling a tractor, now I feel like a triathlon is within reach – my bike is running like a dream. They can either drop or pick up your bike, service it and deliver it back. It is very reasonably priced and definitely a service i will be using again.
