The Watch That Goes With Everything

I am finally the proud owner of a watch and it is pretty cool too. I have always liked a bright and colourful watch but my Iphone has been my normal route for telling the time the last few years as I found I would always scratch my babies with my watch!  However, when I was introduced to Jester Watches who sell watches with interchangeable colours, I wanted one as not only do I not need to pick up babies anymore – I could actually match my watch to my outfit (something that used to bother me about watches – a red watch with an orange top? Just no.)

Giveaway

How Does It Work?

The USP about the Jester Watch is that you can personalise your watch completely by choosing the colour of the face, the dial, bezel, case buckle and tail.

I chose a bright blue face as I thought that goes with most colours. The quality is excellent.

These are the colours I wear most often.

The beauty of this watch is that it is really good quality and easy to interchange the straps on a day to day basis.  You just slide the strap in and out.

It is totally unisex and there are enough holes for a small person – my 2 year old keeps on wanting wear my watch!

Daisy Hambro : Tobias Clothing

Thank goodness for Tobias Clothing. Mens small boutique clothing brands are so few and far between and most of those that are around miss the mark completely. Not Tobias. Tobias Clothing is an ethical fashion brand designing mens conformable and stylish mens casual cotton and linen shirts. Even my husband likes them, now that’s something!

FVF_8884

Daisy Hambro started Tobias in 2012, when she was living in India. It was all thanks to her husband – hence the name Tobias.

IMG_0046

He had a shirt which he had bought when he was 17 and wore so often it was threadbare.

It got to the point where he couldn’t go on wearing it, so I asked a local tailor to copy it and put different prints and colours on the collars and cuffs.

FVF_8362

When people started admiring it the idea of the business came about. Daisy now has a collection of 16 different cotton and linen shirts each with their individual splash of colour on the collar and cuffs.

10% of all the proceeds go directly to the Akanksha Foundation, who educated under privileged children in Mumbai.

Now that’s incentive to buy a shirt!

Nicky Jack : Architectural Artist

Nicky Jack is a freelance artist and illustrator living and working in London. From Tower Hill to Hammersmith Bridge, whether famous landmarks, Notting Hill mansions or more modest Victorian terrace houses, Nicky has won acclaim for her distinct style. Her style is right up my strata!

Enhansed Houses-Elgin©NJA.jpeg copy

Having left Bath Art school with a Fellowship, she has drawn her inspiration from a wide range of sources.

A quirky cheery style permits throughout her work, likely the reason she was spotted by Cath Kidston. Nicky was the inspiration behind the brands famous London print.

Whilst cheery, her work also shows deep technical ability as she is renowned for picking out the detail in architecture and captures the movement and atmosphere of a scene with a quirky Lowry-like style.

 New piccadilly for printers copy

With a degree and fellowship in printed textiles from Bath School of Art, Nicky Jack came to London and progressed her design interests, working part time in a design studio whilst selling work to boutiques and galleries in the UK and further afield. She taught art for a number of years at The House Schools group and The Hall Hampstead which she adored. Having always loved painting pictures for friends and family she made the exciting decision to leave teaching and give her art career a good go whilst pregnant with child number two.
IMG_0979
Her main objective was to try out being a working at home Mummy doing what she loved most.
Her work slowly graduated from the kitchen table to a modest garden shed where she can close the door and work efficiently without too much distraction. She has created illustrations for a number of brands, including Cath Kidston, Fortnum and Mason, The Birley Group and has worked of a number of Private commissions which have led to illustrating for everyone from the Royal Family to St Paul’s Cathedral.

Nicky has turned her hand to taking commissons of people’s homes and they are sensational!

Whether it be an intricately detailed house portrait with a difference or a busy little favourite scene, I love to producing something unique and tailored. I am equally happy to work from a detailed brief or to help provide the inspiration.

Camilla Warren : Memories of Growing Up

I have been collating Christening and various Christmas present gift list guides for the coming season (watch this space) and this website has caught my eye for quality and originality.  Memories of Growing Up was started by mother of 3, Camilla Warren. She sells unique baby & Christening gifts ranging from a portable tape measure to solid silver trinket boxes.

Talltape

Camilla came up with the idea of a roll-up height chart that would be portable and would make a long-lasting keepsake to pass on
through the generations.

“Talltape was inspired by two friends moving house.  Their stories made me realise I was not alone. One was so upset leaving all those memories on the kitchen wall, another just took the door frame with her!”

She sourced her base material – a sturdy, flexible plastic that  can be rolled and unrolled easily and has a write-on surface for recording measurements with a permanent marker pen.

pink ruler

She came up with her design – a metric and imperial measure running from 0 to 2 meters and 0 to 6’ 6” – producing it in pink, white and blue and commissioning British artist Charlotte Bampfylde to create her first illustrated version.

ruler
Camilla began market testing and realised that her new product had an additional hidden benefit: unlike many height charts,  Talltape can be used horizontally as well as vertically.

“There’s a gap between when a newborn comes home from hospital and when they first stand up.  Of course your midwife plots your baby’s height at the beginning – I had the NHS’s little red book – but then there’s a  long while until your child can stand. Talltape enables you to measure your baby from birth to adulthood, giving you a complete record for posterity.”

Manuactured in the UK, Talltape is now available in even variations – white, baby blue and baby pink and four illustrated designs by British artists.

School Run Style : Tops With a Twist

Blah. I am bored of my clothes. I want to go full on into winter gear as I am bored of my ‘Sautumn’ clothes. My check shirts have had it, my jumpers are a bit tired, my t shirts have mysterious holes in them (do you get them too? Not moths…) and I am on the hunt for some throw on tops that I don’t have to think too much about – like wash n’ go but for your torso (speaking of torso, that aren’t too tight either…) Bye bye embroidery and bye bye off the shoulder. Time to buy some investment pieces (for this season atleast!)
