A Spring In My Step

Today was the first day of the Summer Term. For my son. Although cycling to school this morning, it felt like it was my first day back and I had forgotten to wear my summer uniform. Many of the mother’s sailed into school looking tanned (not from 4 days of UK sun, I can assure you that!) gorgeous and kitted out in a new Spring wardrobe.

I had to sort it out. I couldn’t do a rain dance hoping this fine weather will pass.  So, I weeded my wardrobe and made 3 piles-

  • charity
  • chuck
  • keep for next year

There is a now large whole in my wardrobe that needs filling.

So starting from the bottom up, I have decided these Silver Superga’s will add a spring in my step and I’m tempted by these little things from The White Company She never knows her luck!

Tinker and Belle: Beautiful Children’s Clothes

Gabrielle Murray, a delightful mother of 2, based in Edinburgh, started up Tinker and Belle as she couldn’t find ‘clothes that I liked; which were simple in shape, free of cartoon characters, branding and NOT PINK.’

She has rapidly gone from strength to strength and is so in demand she can hardly keep up.  Her clothes are beautiful and made to an exceptionally high standard. Even the packaging which they arrive in, is too good to open!

Lizzie Hunt: The Coolest Bib On The Block

May I draw your attention to Lizzie Hunt Bibs. I first noticed them on a friends baby as the regal rouching made the feeding child look rather fetching which is a hard thing to do in my experience.

They are 100% cotton so wash remarkably well and the elasticed neck ensures one size fits all. The different colour and trim gives them a unique look and if you are that way inclined enables you to match the bib to the accent colour in your kitchen…

The Home Of Bottom Chic

With the warm air extending to next week, it’s time to peel of the functional tights and take a look at the possibilities for the baby’s summer wardrobe. Much easier and more rewarding than thinking about my own – especially with original and gorgeous websites like ‘The Home of Bottom Chic‘ to peruse. I haven’t seen anything as original for a while.

The pram pants and little mopette hats in bright fabrics with contrasting bows are divine and are sure to turn heads and I can’t wait to place an order when I finally make a decision. These are the current favourites…

Camilla Crawford: Liberty Obsession

My ‘all things’ Liberty obsession started when I knew I was having a girl and I could finally let the proverbial floodgates open and start day dreaming about floral fabric without it being weird.

I don’t pretend to be anything other than a traditionalist when it comes to dressing A.  Despite admiration for little tots swathed in denim, leggings and cute mini converse – I have tried it with A and she just doesn’t suit it (as much as a 10 month old doesn’t suit things…)  Apparently soon (umm, very) she will have a mind of her own so I need to get my Peter Pan collar and Alice band fix in now.

My ‘go to’ lady for sweet tops, bloomers and dresses is the delightful Millie Crawford, a London based mother with a knack for sewing up a storm in the size and fabric you require, both quickly and reasonably priced. What’s not to love!
