17 Pairs of Trainers No One Else Will Have

Quite a punchy call, but I have delved very deep into finding trainers that aren’t on the foot of every fifth mum at the school gate (including myself) and when it isn’t it a good time for a trainer post? I think they should be done every month! Here we go…

Veja – Holiday Blend Black & White 109 Euros

Not sure where the black and white comes from but hey, they are italian and who am I to argue.  Love the shock of pink and the general beige colour. Nothing dull about these trainers.

Mango – Contrast Applique Sneakers £35.99

A copy of the Celine ones at a fraction of the price. Nice one Team Mango.

Crime London Sneakers 149 Euros

No name, just a number – that’s just how cool this brand are 😉

Hogan – Micro Sequin Grainy & Leather Effect £278

If your name begins with H it would be rude not to buy these! Especially if you red hair…  Striking!

hb430417-018-1x-t

Converse All Star – Limited Edition Neon Yellow £100

Ok, perhaps these are verging on clown shoes and / or I should have posted about these lush high-tops BEFORE Autumn hit, but they are limited edition and surely a good investment for Spring feet?

co430217-021-1x-t

Marc Jacobs – Lightning Bolt Jogger £265

Move over flamingos, it’s all about lightning bolts and MJ is executing this trend superbly. Perhaps not the price though.. jc430317-015-1x-t

Isabel Marant Concealed Wedge Trainer £440

1159884_1

Boohoo – Phoebe Back Tab Trainer £12

Ok, slightly disorienting price jump but hey, I’m not known for true consistency or order! There are lots of ‘one tab’ colours around but you can feel exceptionally smug knowing that yours were only £12!!! ha

Misguided – White Be a Embroidered Trainers £25

Embracing metallic and embroidered these sneakers tick all the AW17 boxes without a hefty price tag.  NB. Misguided is really good for embroidered sneakers – flames, leaves – you name it they have embroidered it! And, can I add that not many 30 plus woman know or shop at Misguided so you really be in the minority (unless they read this!)

Misguided – Fuchsia Studded Toe Cap Trainers £30

Sorry, I just couldn’t resist this colour!!!

fuchsia-studded-toe-cap-trainers-2

Sophia Webster – Bini Low Tops £260

This butterfly wing is the SW ‘thing’ in the same way that Christian Louboutin shoes have the red sole… So if you want to make a status symbol showing your wallet and your on the money style – these are worth saving for – and who doesn’t like a pale pink butterfly wing!

bibi-low-top-spf17007-1-333

Rose Rankin – Velvet Colt Runner £178

I have loved watching Rose Rankin rise up the ranks to become one the most prestigious and cool sneaker brands in the UK. Quality is her middle name so if you want different, excellent quality at a good price, RR is your gal.

When It Rains, It Pours

Today, I am talking light weight, throw on, colourful and waterproof. The humble rain mac.  It can be left crumpled in the boot and still has the ability to make you look pulled together when thrown on and zipped up. Buy a size up and you can fit a snug jumper on underneath or when spring approached looks fab undone with a t-shirt peeping through. Every women should have a biker, a parka, a smart winter coat, a blazer and a waterproof coat – and the latter is what I am covering today because when it rains, it pours…

yellow raincoat

Other than a variation of colours and patterns, they are generally thigh length, with hood and zip. I bought a white one from Topshop last year and it is still going strong and despite the light colour, it is pretty versatile and goes with most things. Although, it isn’t a great look when my 3-year-old needs carrying after a long muddy walk!

Jumpers With a Twist

The first thing you see after a jacket and shoes is what’s on your top half. The school run staple seems to be a cashmere jumper with a little colourful detail on it. Marks and Spencer has got wind of this trend and rolled out some pretty gorgeous jumpers this season that have yet to be discovered by the school gate mums. Here is your little heads up!

Colour Block £99

With dark grey jeans, ankle boots and a colourful scarf – this is a sober look with enough detail to prevent it looking dull. I love the elongating stripe down the arm.

sd_01_t38_3360_t4_x_ec_90

Cashmere Star Print Jumper £109

This jumper has come under the radar of Instagram as it looks anything but M and S and it is a fantastic price point for such a pretty design and a good fit.

Cashmere Round Neck Jumper £109

Ah, a pop of pink always goes down well and this is just enough not to be too in your face.

sd_01_t38_3353_t4_x_ec_90

This jumper and the one below are amazing! At only £35, they are snazzy and slightly sparkly. I love this one as who doesn’t love a stripe.

Pure Wool Flared Cuff Jumper £45

For the those that love a strip without any sparkle, this jumper has a lovely flare detail on the wrist.

Pop Up featuring Familiar

The British market is not an easy market to crack, especially when it comes to baby and children’s clothes. However, one that has the UK in its grasp is Familiar, a popular Japanese brand famed for it’s high quality clothes. Any mother with young children in Japan will have been gifted a Familiar item at some point as it lasts through all your children and looks is well designed.

Familiar was founded in 1950 by four Japanese women who were in a middle of raising their own children and their mission was to create clothes they themselves want to dress their children in.

Isn’t this a lovely photo?

%e5%89%b5%e6%a5%ad%e8%80%85_02

Familiar is considered as a luxury brand and is known for its high quality clothing.

Due to this good quality, Familiar’s products are often used as newborn baby’s gifts.

Familiar creates their own fabrics and their number one selling product in Japan is a simple newborn baby underwear.

170610_event_%e5%85%83%e7%94%ba_086

In this first effort to set up space in the European market, the focus has been on materials, handiwork, and children’s experiences, expressed as the Japanese concept of HITOTEMA, which refers to those extra small touches that enliven their clothes.
To further enable customers to realize the quality materials in use at Familiar, there will be a HITOTEMA Experience throughout the duration of the popups, where five types of adult ponchos will be available for try-on so that people can experience the feel and quality of Japanese fabrics.

There will also be exhibition spaces where children can interact and create their own designs, with patterns on thick paper stock, fabrics, and buttons. At this POP-UP STORE, Familiar’s delicate and detailed craftsmanship is expressed through the HITOTEMA theme. By affording clients not only with products but with an experience, we will transmit real value and inspiration that only Familiar can provide.

SO, WHAT WILL YOU FIND AT THE POP UP?

Exhibition of Familiar’s past products 1970s – 1990s

They will show the design changes through the year and show how the founders have created designs that they themselves would want to

A Night at The Palace

On Monday evening, I was invited to the relaunch of Issa London with House of Fraser at Kensington Palace. Issa may ring a bell as it caused a huge stir when Kate wore the label in the form of a midnight blue dress (and looked fabulous) for her official engagement photos. After a few years out of the spotlight, it is back and better than ever with more patterns and prints but still with unusual details and flattering fits.

Engagement Dress

The launch was at The Orangery in Kensington Palace as a venue and it didn’t disappoint.

image

The table was beautifully decorated with rainbow coloured flowers and glassware.

img_7699-2

I was on the orange section! Pretty hey!

All the bloggers and celebs looked stunning in their Issa dresses and it made a huge difference seeing them in ‘real’ life.

These 5 dresses were stunning and would work for black tie, cocktail party or even a wedding.

One way to finish off an outfit you threw on in the dark and before coffee is with some star trainers. There are quite a few around at the moment but I don’t see that many people in them – so now is a good time to funk up your feet and grab a pair. You don’t have to break the bank – there are some great ones for £25 but am starting with the high end…

Which ones do you fancy?

Autumn ‘Instagram’ Dresses

Each season, a few key pieces from the high street become major Instagram hits.  This happens by a few key bloggers waxing lyrical about them (and looking pretty lush too).  I have just been given the heads up that Marks and Spencer have quietly launched their new Autumn collection online and there are some absolute gems I have to tell you about before anyone else does (and they fly off the rails in your size!)

I have a sneaky suspicion that these dresses below will be part of the action.  Watch this space!

Printed Tie Dyed Flared Sleeve Mini Dress £35

If this doesn’t get you excited about a new Autumn wardrobe – I am not sure what will! The blue is striking and the pattern is very Rixo dahhhling (if you don’t know Rixo, trust me it’s a good thing to have a dress that looks like one of theirs!)

Electric Blue Dress

Mesh Flared Sleeve Midi Dress £49.50

Imagine finding a dress for the ‘silly season’ before you actually had to. Imagine nailing it in August. Just imagine. And you could with this one! Do it!

navy flared dress

Floral Lace Gathered Hem Slip Dress £79

Dress up, dress down, this slip dress that comes in 3 other colours (emerald green, plum and deep red) would look just as good with tights, bikers and a denim/leather jacket as it would with a kimono and heels in the evening. LOVE. But which colour… red is the colour of next season but I have a feeling the black will go first!

sd_01_t42_7008_y0_x_ec_90

Tea Dress £19.50

I want sure whether to add this as it doesn’t look great in this pic but if you are a fan of the tea dress, but want something slightly more covered up for Autumn this is a great next step and the model looks fab in it! Love it with her trainers.

Floral Dress

So, what do you think? Agree or think I am way off the mark? I think bravo Marks and Spencer and cant wait to investigate what other goodies you have in store. Here is a little taster…

Star Cashmere Jumper £109

sd_01_t38_3352_zz_x_ec_90

Shall we squeal now or later? In the words of our favourite cheesy movie star ‘i’ll be back!’

School Run Style : Cool T Shirts

As the start of school is on the horizon, it turns our thoughts away from flamingos and espadrilles towards something a little more finished.  However, I do think one of the healthiest looking times of the year is in September so lets show it off! The hair has been highlighted, the skin sun kissed and hopefully the probability of getting into a swimsuit for two months has been over shadowing what you put in your trap hole.

So, let’s look at a few pieces that will enhance this carefree look, whilst also making you feel put together. I am thinking pale. Thinking T Shirts.  Then over the coming months you can throw on a jacket, cardigan or a kimono.  Maison De Nimes, a new brand at House of Fraser is the perfect brand to kick off School Run Style with!

Wanderlust T Shirt £25

Speaks for it self.

Wanderlust T Shirt

Star Embroidery Blouse £45

Pretty and feminine and the stars make it quite Christmassy too!

Sunday T £25

We can dream and although not reality, this will give you a cool Sunday feeling.

Great with blue jeans and silver arm candy.
