New Brand Spotlight : 6 Womenswear Brands I am Loving At Present

There are a few womenswear brands that I have come across recently and I wanted to share them with you.  Usually there are only one or two items I add to cart when I am surfing a website, but on the following sites, there are quite a few pieces that I could add to cart and CHECKOUT!

Paddo To Palmy

They are an Australian brand but shop worldwide (and they are using one of the first Hush models in their new campaign in case you recognise her but can’t place her!)

La Villette Dress is so pretty and feminine, I am keep on revisiting wondering if pale pink really looks that bad on me.

La Villette

Continuing on the pale pink theme, I love this off the shoulder dress.

Ponza

PK Berry

If you aren’t familiar with PK Berry, let me introduce you.  If you want the perfect folk top, you will find it on PK Berry. Each item is intricately embroidered with interesting detail but not too over the top. Despite being flouncy they are brilliantly flattering.

I have acquired a Martha White recently and am planning it’s first outing…

Martha

I also like the look of this Chloe – I love the slightly oriental collar.

Pink City Prints

Pink City Prints are also one to watch, especially as the summer looms. I love the Nomad Prairie Long.

Nomad Praire

These Palm Tree PJ’s are also on my wish list. Aren’t they awesome?

Palm Tree Prints

Keith Scarrott

His shoes are ruddy cool. Check out these fuchsia espadrilles – slightly wedged too so will make your legs look slimmer!

Fuchsia Espadrilles

I know it isn’t trainer buying season, but if your thing, like me, are trainers – it would do no harm buying these beauties now!

Blue Star

The Alex Edit

Started by one half the stylish Wear & Where girls, Alex is a curation of her favourite clothes and accessories that she has seen on her proverbial travels.

Loving her selection of Tee’s, especially this Sunset & Palm Tree pinky.

Sunsets & Palm Trees

Who says glitter is for Christmas? No way! This sequin pouch would look fab on your summer holiday!

Champagne Darling

Libelula

If you have a wedding coming up (might be a little too late to get yourself kitted out for M and H’s wedding but sure you can pull something from the back of your wardrobe 😉 you need to buy one of these dresses from Libelula. Well cut and great prints.

You couldn’t fault to be asked to dance by the father of the bride in this Jessie dress

Jessie Dress

This silk velvet Treakle top would work over a waisted dress or a high-rise skirt or trousers. So glamorous. I want to get dressed up for a wedding!! (We are passed that stage and now it’s fancy dress for milestone birthdays!)

Treakle Top

I love discovering new brands!

There are so many wonderful small businesses out there. I know it is hard to remember them, but stay tuned as I am going to delve into many more over the next couple of months as pop up season is upon us!

I will also be including some menswear – we can’t leave them to their own devices too much this summer!!

If you want some more inspiration for the summer, have a read of recent fashion posts.

Have a lovely day

New Brand Spotlight: Kit The Kids Out This Summer with These Online Shops

In the hecticness of life, it is hard to think of where to head when you actually need something, other than the big corporates (or the supermarket!)  We all have our default shops and where we head to for a quick virtual supermarket sweep, but its important to try and balance out this with smaller brands.  We have left it ia little late with independent shops on the high street, so let’s not leave it to late to support online shops.

Todays aim is to introduce to some wonderful businesses I have come across in the last couple off months which will help you get your families Spring Summer wardrobe together and encourage you to shop from smaller brands.  Why chance looking like everyone else, when you can look individual, knowing you are supporting someone’s dream?

St Berts

Yesterday as I discussed with a friend what 8 year old boys should wear to Dress Down Thursday, we both agreed they were too old for appliqué or Lego logo T shirts – but we wanted to avoid looking like they had been dressed by us! I had no hesitation in recommending she looked at St Berts that have totally nailed the smart relaxed look.

I love this Chevron Sweater

Chevron Tops

As they get older, I have noticed comfort is King and so these shorts work a treat.

Rainbow shorts

The girls playsuits are also so cute!!

Playsuit

The selection of T shirts will have you sorted for summer, so head on over and check them out.

Apatchy London

As I packed the boys off to cricket camp at Easter with their Spiderman lunch boxes, I slightly cringed for them and made a mental note to get them something more grown up. Apatchy London have a huge range of super smart and very cool personalised bags and cases for travel, sport and school.

This Personalised Backpack is only £49. It is sturdy and understated but the personalisation makes it stand out as a bit different.

Back Pack

This silver holdall is a real showstopper. The quality is outstanding and would make a wonderful present.

Holdall

They also have brilliant smaller gift ideas, such as Pencil Cases and Mouthguard cases that you can attache to your sports bag!

Mouthguard

THIMBLE London

Emily started by making nighties for her own children, and then friends.. and then the rest is … Thimble Onion!

Her handmade nighties are just beautiful.

Traditional Nightie

As there was such a huge demand she has also started making dresses.

If you want one for the summer, get in touch as I have a feeling she will be busy!

Thimble Dresses

Twinkledust

If you love simple strong prints and only the best fabric for your baby – you will love Twinkledust.  I love the star print – especially these little leggings!

Leggings

They also have a great selection of gifts, both for baby and mum to be and I am hoping this headband will fit me!

Headband

It is overall a lovely manageable one stop shop if you are having a bay or looking to buy something for a baby!  Check out the goodies in this Marvellous Mum Set.

Little Boxers

Started by the gorgeous Caro who has just had her 4th baby, these boys boxer shorts are an absolute winner.

Boxers

As they don’t  have the traditional gap, they can be worn around the house and even for a quick dip!

Boys Boxers

Suitable for age 3 – 10. I am waiting for her to branch into mens!

Butterflies and Bees

If you are staying with friends over the summer months – step up your guest game by taking your own towels. These hand stitched personalised towels are very sweet.

Personalised Towels

Why not take one as thank you present too? There are gorgeous hand towels or these face cloths are only £6 and would make the most lovely gift for a little person!

Facecloth

I hope these have inspired and do email me if you have any great businesses that I should be including hello@thelondonmummy.com

Have a lovely evening,

What To Wear To Watch The Royal Wedding

There is nothing like a weekend of warm weather to make you realise how inadequate or outdated your wardrobe is and that you have nothing appropriate to wear. Where was my pretty light weight maxi dress to swan around the garden in? (Take ‘swanning’ lightly, I was batter most of the weekend and so probably better off in my ankle grazers!)

I don’t know what you are doing for the Royal Wedding (as in how you are watching it – I am doubtful many of my readers have been invited – although I do live in hope). One thing for sure is, it is a celebration. So whether you are watching it on the sofa whilst bribing your kids to play outside, you have a street party to attend or you have a little gathering at home, you need a frock for the occasion.

A maxi is perfect.

Demure. Respectable. On trend. Just like Meghan.

Stradivarius Striped Shirt Dress £35

To the floor button up dresses are flying around a lot at the moment. When I first saw, I was meh however now I think I am going to try one myself. What do you think?

Striped Button Dress

Silk Fred Rose Print Dress £55

Silk Fred has some brilliantly priced Maxi dresses that are spot on trend with huge flowers or ditsy florals. This colour with large flowers works well on darker more statuesque women as it would be too over powering on a small blonde framer example.

Rose Print

Hush Tabitha Maxi Dress £95

I absolutely love this dress although my only worry is someone else at the party may be wearing it too.

Hush Maxi

Jagger maxi in Painted Dot £55

Another Silk Fred maxi. I really love the shape of their dresses and this polka dot dress is bang on trend.

Jagger maxi

Mela London Fluted Sleeve Maxi £35

If pale and feminine is your style, this is very pretty and if you are lucky could be mistaken for an angel.

Mela London

Very Printed Frill Maxi Dress £55

I included this as it has been in lots of magazines this month and is BACK IN STOCK, so it must be popular which leads me to believe that is nice. I’m not sure many could carry it off though….

Very Printed Frill

Hope & Ivy at Topshop Fluted Open Dress £80

If you added a ‘0’ to the price and told me it was top end designer, I would believe you. The cut and detail (and price!) makes this dress a strong contender.

Hope & Ivy

Stories Floral Printed Wrap Dress £89

I LOVE this colour and pattern. I am all over the pink/red trend this season and this encompasses it to perfection.

Ganni Georgette Maxi Dress £200

As my stylist pal Claire Mcnestry enlightened me last week, that Leopard print is a neutral – I am now more in love with it than before. Warm or cool skin, you can’t go wrong with a bit of animal.

Ganni

Studio by Preen at Debenhams Floral Shirt Dress £200

I first saw this dress on Cat from Does My Bum Look 40  when she went to the launch last winter of Preen at Debenhams. I liked it then and I like it now.

Studio Preen

Rixo London Wrap Silk Dress £300

Rixo epitomizes floral maxi’s and this one is a good example of the way they use print on different parts of the dress to make a statement.

Rixo London

Ridley London Lavinia Maxi £489

Camilla Ridley creates beautiful bespoke dresses and maxi’s is one of her strongest arms. You can see why. The prints are lovely and they can be fitted exactly to you.

Lavinia

Seraphina Goa London Gina Maxi Dress £185

I have been a fan of Seraphina since it started as the colours and style other dresses, kaftans and cover ups are just spot on. Buy now and wear a special occasion and holidays.

Gina Maxi Dress

Hope you have enjoyed this post. I know I have been a little bit heavy on skirts and dresses of late.  Heading up top next week for Spring Tops!!

Enjoy the sun,

Joanna Archer Garden Design : What To Plant In Your Garden Now

When I posted a story on Instagram of myself bewildered at the garden centre, I was delighted when Joanna responded with simple yet gorgeous suggestions of what I could plant in my garden at the moment. So helpful. Especially for a novice like myself.  I thought it might be helpful if she would share her expertise, what to plant in your garden now.

Joanna

Joanna studied Garden Design at the prestigious Inchbald School of Design and is an RHS qualified horticulturalist.

Since setting up her design practice Joanna has designed and built a wide variety of gardens both in London and the country. She works with a select group of hard working landscapers who have a keen eye for detail and carry out the construction with great care. All trees, shrubs and plants are sourced from leading nurseries throughout the South East that deliver to your door. In addition, furniture, pots, lighting and water features are sourced for you so your garden is complete when she leaves.

Cover Image

I am very grateful to hand TLM reins over to Joanna, who can help you get your garden summer ready!

It’s a great time to add instant colour and texture to your borders. Take a good look at where the gaps are and how much sun those areas might get. Then make a shopping list before heading out (don’t get tempted by anything flowering at the garden centre…we’ve all done that, right?!)

Here are some fun combinations to help you get started…and head to www.crocus.co.uk if you prefer shopping online.

SUN LOVING FLOWER POWER

Sun loving plant

Combine the tall spires of Salvia ‘Caradonna’ with the swaying bells of ‘Penstemon ‘Apple Blossom’.

Cover any gloomy bare soil with a fabulous Geranium ‘Rozanne’ and contrast with the flat-head blooms of Achillea ‘Moonshine’ and Verbena bon.

‘Lollipop’. This long flowering combination will keep your borders full of colour and bees until the Autumn.

The plants are all knee-high so handy for filling up narrow borders or the middle of large flower beds.

A BIT SHADY

A little bit shady

For half sunny/half shady areas, try Digitalis purpurea ‘Dalmation Series’ for a shot ofpurple in early summer.

Throw in some drifts of Astrantia ‘Buckland’ and edge the border with Alchemilla mollis for some zingy acid green. The Geranium wallichianum ‘Havana’ will be a pretty lilac carpet around the edges.

Towards the back put some Anenome ‘Queen Charlotte’ so you have something to look forward to in the Autumn.

SHADY AND DRY

Image Board 3

Don’t despair if you’ve got dry shady gaps under trees and next to walls.

Get to know your ferns, this Polystichum setiferum has beautiful feathery fronds all year round
and is a great back drop to other plants.

For early summer colour combine the delicate Aquilegia ‘Yellow Bonnet’ with Geranium mac. ‘White-Ness’ to brighten up those pokey corners.

The Euphorbia robbiae will be a neon green carpet and looks great with Tulips (if you remember to plant the bulbs in Autumn). Liriope muscari has small purple spires to keep things cheery until the end of the year.

ACCESSORIES

Accessories Board

I absolutely love this parasol from the East London Parasol Company. There are so many tempting brollies and some tasselled cushions if they take your fancy.

After you’ve done all that planting, have a sit down on one of these amazing armchairs from Fermob. The chair is £395 and the low table £145. I can’t recommend their furniture enough, it just never ever rusts and you can choose from 24 different colours!

Contact www.barbed.co.uk to place an order, note there’s a 4 week lead time.

Pretty melamine plates are always handy in the garden, this Paint & Petals range is
on sale in Anthropologie now!

Don’t miss these cool outdoor cushions, part of a new collection from Maisons du Monde

Good luck with your garden!

Why not contact Joanna if you have any further questions or want her to pop over to your garden – I have no doubt she will be able to help you!

10 Steps To Get Your Hair, Face & Body Ready For Summer

After a false start to summer last week, we are being teased with whispers of another heatwave in a few days.  I felt slightly foolish whipping out the wax strips, exfoliating like a nutter and whacking on the fake tan, only for the body to resume its natural state the next day when the sun hid again – fully shrouded.

It’s easy to let your hair face and body drop to the bottom of the priority list during the winter months, especially when you can cheat. Black skinnies and a leather biker hide a multitude of sin for most of the year however this doesn’t cut it when the temp rises above 22c.

All these recommendations are super quick and the application of them will only take an hour.

Here I am before I took my own advice…

Before

And after…  (I will look at make up in a different post – today is all about getting the foundations right! No point painting before you plaster eh!)

After

I hope this gives you hope!

So, Ten Steps to Being Summer Ready

  1. Drink water. Buy a water bottle and keep it topped up and sip whenever you feel hungry, I mean thirsty. (The first step to losing weight is drinking water when you feel a pang – will power willing). This chic stainless steel water bottle is pretty cool… If you can’t handle water, put neon, cucumber or mint in it.
  2. Once your body is hydrated from the inside, you can get to work on the outside. I highly recommend Philip Kingsley Elasticizer for your hair. If I know I am going to wash my hair the next day, I slather it on my hair the night before and when I wash it the next day, it feels so soft.
  3. For those that prefer a scrub to an implement to slough away dry skin, this Nuxe Body Scrub is effective and lovely to use as it instantly warms up when you apply.
  4. I don’t know about you but I have found it hard to find a moisturiser that effectively penetrates the dry skin on my knees – however, This Works Dry Leg Oil is definitely winning at the moment. I slater it on after exfoliating before bed and in the morning my knees are much softer. It’s also good prep before you self tan although you can’t use it just before – obviously – as it is oil-based.
  5. Trinny’s desert island product is anything with Vitamin C in it – so if it is good enough for her, its certainly good enough for me.  Whack this Rodial Vitamin C mask on for 20 minutes and voila – hydrated, energised, firmer & softer.
  6. Add a natural glow to your face with this Self Tan Facial Oil – developed over 4 hours and moisturises at the same time which is good as so many can be so drying.
  7. For your body, this James Read colourless gel will develop overnight and won’t rub off onto your bed linen. Perfect for those that have a bath or shower in the evening (I’m totally shower in the morning all the way although I am sure this would be ok under clothes too…)
  8. Nab stray hairs with these tweezers. Precision ones which are perfect for stubborn hairs or dreaded ingrown ones.
  9. Open your eyes up with eyelash curlers. These Tweezerman ones will do the trick.
  10. Last but not least, keep the sun at bay by applying an SPF. I am a fan of the Ultrasun range as they cater for all skin types and ages. Obviously I like the one that has a little bit of tint in it so you can wear a sunhat but still feel like you have caught the sun!! Ultrasun

If I do all 10 steps the day before a party or a ‘heatwave’ I am much more likely to feel confident in myself. So buy a few bits, book an hour off and lock yourself in the bathroom and pamper yourself!!

Have a great day and thank you for reading

How To Look Stylish without Following Fashion

What a joy to spend the morning in beautiful surrounding at a styling workshop with Kate Evans. I have been following Kate on Instagram (check her stylish and accessible squares out) for a while and have admired her informative stories and blog posts, so when an oppountity arose to hear her in ‘real life’ I jumped at the chance.

She was leaving the Glos to enlighten a group of ladies at a styling workshop and lunch hosted by Jo at Blaegrove Barn, who runs gorgeous events & workshops from a barn in her garden.  It is available to hire for your own event such as hen, baby shower, corporate or party too.

Blaegrove Barn

Kate kicked off the morning introducing herself.

KE Styling

Everyone was immediately reassured that she wasn’t some super stylist who was going to throw high fashion on us, but who would teach us how to wear clothes that would suit us to reach our potential.

Inside the barn

Not only is she an expert in the colours and shapes, she is also a trained life coach and a bevy of knowledge on which shops suit which style personality and shapes.

She generously pinpointed what colours we should be wearing – I should wear deep (dark), bright (jewel colours) with a warm undertone (i.e. yellow based) and although I had my colours done a few years ago and trained how to do women’s seasonal colours (i.e. Spring or Summer) this updated version knowing your key characteristics was much more helpful!

Luckily, I was wearing the right colours!

Black & Pink

Kate went through the key trends for this Spring / Summer, and as we had learnt what suits us, we knew whether we could wear them or not.

SPRING SUMMER TRENDS

Trouser Suits

If you feel a trouser suit is too formal, dress down with a logo T underneath and some trainers.  This Boden trouser suit is a particular favourite of Kate’s (she nor I are endured with any of these recommendations FYI!)

Remember if black isn’t one of your colours, there are other neutrals that you can wear top to toe such as navy blue, grey or chocolate-brown that will suit you and look smart if they are the right colour for you!

1980’s

Bomber jackets – Zara is always good and for the perfect jumpsuit head to Rock The Jumpsuit.  Best worn if your shoulders nd hips are the same width apart – if not – get those shoulder pads on you! Very 80’s…

Tapered trousers are also a winner this season. (My trousers in the above photo were a bit blousy…)

Fluted Sleeves

Perfect if you have a small top half and to even your proportions out if you have a heavier bottom half!  (Monsoon are great for that latter problem – really good this season)

What can you wear with these though? A gilet!

Crazy Brights

If you aren’t good with brights around your face, accessorise it up!  Gift Pop have gorgeous brightly coloured horse hair belts.

image005

Florals

If you are tall, wear large patterns and if you are small wear smaller patterns! Reflect!

Ted Baker is doing fantastic florals at the moment.

image003

We sat down for an incredible lunch that Jo had prepared surrounded by beautiful interiors.

Blaegrove

From the nibbles to the homemade lemon posset and the salads in between – it was absolutely gorgeous.

Pepper salad

These tulips were from Jo’s garden – I forgot to ask how she gets them to stay so upright!

img_4343

After chatting and enjoying top fodder (Jo humbly said she used Tart London’s latest recipe book but I think most of her salads were totally from her own repertoire) we set about to glean as much info from lovely Kate on what’s what, who’s what and where’s where…

ENJOY!

Who does good t shirts?
Whistles…

Options to dress down a blazer?
Lucy Dodwell (great for a flash of neon) and FWP by Rae (great for slogans) do super cool sweatshirts in lightweight fabrics.

3 favourite small clothing brands
Baujken
Miranda Dunn
Be4 Ballerina’s who can personalise your trainers!

Top 3 go to items in your wardrobe when you are in a rush
In the summer, Maxi dress, Cropped trousers, Statement tee

jacket

Best return of investment on an item
My Keith Scarrott gold backed boots….I just love them and they make me feel so happy when I wear them!

3 favourite Instagram accounts
Suzie Verrill – she is hilarious
Caroline Hirons – brilliant beauty advice and she cracks me up
Mamma’s Scrap book…stunning interior shots but also brilliant instastories. Anna is a Psychotherapist and does lots of work on promoting support of mental health issues.

Silver or gold jewellery?
Mostly gold as I have a warm skin tone- so works much better- but I also like mixing my metals and wearing both at the same time. Cotton and Gems is my favourite!

Last book you read?
Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi…an incredibly moving book about Ayaan’s upbringing in a strict Islamic family in Somalia and her escape from it into Dutch Politics.

The song you pelt out on your own?
Anything from Train or Christina and The Queens

3 favourite apps
Snapseed for photo editing
Hairy Letters (for kids)
Wunderlist (sharing to-do lists between yourself and someone else. I love it I can add things to my husband’s list!)

Best tip for Instagram
Be yourself and make connections with other users so you can support each other. It can be a harsh place…but it can also be SO supportive and positive. Be strict with how long you are on it, how often you check it otherwise it can easily take over.

Follow her here!

Kate Instagram

I am seriously considering booking a shopping trip wth Kate. She is so lovely and has a super fun sense of humour, and totally just gets it.  Also tempted by her ‘online shopping’ package – give her your brief (an event for example) and she will edit a Pinterest board for you with suggestions.

Now that is service!

How much?

Prices start at £75 per hour…  but the amount of money you will save in the long run far outweighs the initial outlay.

Kate & lucinda

What a fun day! I feel so inspired and am going to go through my warden with vigour!

Dresses for the School Run to Sports Day

Every year, you need two new dresses.  First new dress is when the nights get darker and the invitations for the silly season clog up your letterbox (the clogging never actually happens to me – I actually think it’s a myth).

Then a summer dress. When the first sign of the sun makes you think of all those events you have on the horizon (again, said tongue in cheek).

The occasion where you have to look smarter than normal but not super smart like you do for a wedding.

Like What?

Thinking Sports Day (not if you are intending to don your spikes and take the mums race seriously though), The Races, a Summer party or a glamorous girly lunch.

I’m also not thinking budget. Nor designer – that in-between price range that often gets overlooked.

Max Mara Assymetic Shirt Dress £300

Look at the belt on this gorgeous dress. It makes a pretty dress an absolute winner in the style stakes.

Max Mara

Biba Pom Pom Detail Maxi Dress £90

Also comes in black. Isn’t it fab – looks much more than the £90 price tag.

Biba

All Saints Adara Dress £148

Look better on than this product image – trust me. With some killer wedges and bling jewellery this is gorgeous. Just don’t have ketchup with your hotdog!

All Saints

People Tree Short Sleeve Frill Dress £99

Sleeves! The wide sleeves are not only pretty they would make your bingo wings looks smaller. Now that’s a win!

Free People

Free People Ivory Maxi Dress £168

I wish I could pull off the ethereal floaty innocent look but I can’t. If you can – this dress is for you.

Free People

Label Lab Eyelet Broderie Dress £60

Don’t consign black to the Autumn and Winter. If it suits your colouring it is a winner in the summer – ensure that it is black cotton and not synthetic – imagine those sweat patches as you get to the finishing line…

Label Lab

Marella Nessos Tile Print Maxi Shirt Dress £300

Slightly higher end (always the way when a dress is well made and has interesting detail) but worth every penny. Dress t down with flats or up with heels.

Marella Dress

Free People Plunge Neck Striped Midi Shirt Dress £90

I love the neckline of this dress and if you have warm skin, this would look incredible.

Plunge shirt dress

Great Plains Betsy Broidery Midi Dress £85

I have a penchant for white dresses (such a shame as I really can’t keep them white for longer than it takes me to get in the car) and this one is very elegant.

Great Plains

What do you normally wear to Sports Day? Last year I ditched the dress as I actually waed to be part of the a Space Hopper relay (yes, really) but our new school is apparently a proper race so stilettos hear I come!

Lots of love

PS. I am having a flash sale over on TLM Edit if you want to grab a summer bargain for £10! x

After Midi Skirts Come Maxi Skirts

Despite Thursdays midi skirt post being rather popular (the denim and polka dot skirts in particular) there has been a little cry of – but I don’t suit mid length skirts – what about maxi’s? Don’t worry – I hear you! If you are on the taller end of the height chart – Maxi’s are for you. They also work a treat disguising particularly wide calves.

What Do You Wear With Them?

  • If you are going floaty maxi (the only type of maxi surely?) keep your top half fitted.
  • A tucked in T Shirt.
  • A tank.
  • Not a blouse or shirt!!!
  • If the skirt is patterned keep it plain, please!

I stumbled across a lot of maxi’s yesterday and so here are my favourites.

First of all I have to mention the brilliant Australian blogger Constance Hall’s sideline – Like a Queen. She has invented long skirts called MumTum. Basically a REALLY wide elastic waist holds everything in.

I have a black one and have just bought this floral number for the summer.

Floral

You have to pay postage from Australia but totally worth it. True to size too (and Australian sizing is same as UK i.e. 12 is a 12)

Ok, let’s take some inspiration from the following skirts…

Wonderful Pattern

Scott & Soda Tiered Maxi Skirt £124

This skirt screams expensive. I am sure it is the sophisticated autumn colour but it is a welcome alternative to candy colours that are blasted every wear at the moment (although in the summer, personally it has to be bright)

Scotch and Soda

Incredible Detail

Stella Jean Maxi Skirt £475

Ok, you aren’t exactly going to buy it – but I included it for inspiration. Flat front panel and gorgeous and unusual embroidery.

Stella Jeans

Truly Feminine

Wiggy Kit Peasant Skirt £395

I love a stripe and red and white is up there with blue and white. The buttons and the tiered panels – ooh la la.

Wiggy Kit

Statement Tiering

Gucci Tiered Yellow Skirt £2690 (yes you read that correctly – 4 figures)

I included this to see if anyone would actually click on it. I now you guys are far too savvy to buy something like this – although I do love the yellow!)

Gucci

And now let’s look at some high street alternatives!!!!

French Connection Yellow Maxi Skirt £95

I told you – and it also has a pretty pattern!

FC

Boden Colour Block Skirt £75

Red and pink together is so hot right now – and for a reason- it is a total showstopper together and if you aren’t brave enough to experiment on your top half – do it on your bottom half!

Boden

Mint Velvet at House of Fraser £89

Such a gorgeous blue and a flattering shape too.

blue skirt

La Redoute Skater Skirt £103

Pretty and easy to wear. Pick one of the many colours on this skirt for your top half (i.e. red as in picot or blue, yellow, coral or dark grey)

La redoute

Zara Jacquard Skirt £49

Arguably not a full length maxi, but too good a price point to be petty.

Jaquard

Zara Ecru Maxi £69.99

Zara strikes again. Just loving the waist band. So much more flattering than a slim elastic band.

Zara

Marks and Spencer Drop Waisted Maxi Skirt £39.50

Love the wide panel of this skirt. The white will go with ANYTHING including a white top. Be sure to accessorise so you don’t look like you are trying to channel an angel!

Drop Waist

Hope this has given you some ideas.  Maxi skirts work when it’s cooler too so all round they are a win win. Which one are you going for?

xx
