9 Ways To Style Your Desk

Last week I had an old school friend over for a cuppa. I have been following her rise through the ranks in the interior world since she started Annabelle Holland Design and love her smart, cosy style.  I made the most of her visit by showing her the office space that we are creating in the garage and listened intently as she generously and tactfully shared her ideas for a pretty and practical desk and office space.

Annabelle was full of useful tips that I had never thought of, so asked her to share them in a post. Here they are!

9 Ideas to Style Your Desk

1) Light.

If it can’t be natural then be sure to add a directional funky desk lamp to keep your desk well lit.

2) Clear the clutter.

File away unnecessary papers to allow space on your desk, leaving more urgent items in stackable acrylic trays or pretty storage boxes making even the most mundane tax return look more appealing.

DESK STYLING

3) Colour Palette.

Surround yourself with colours that you love to create a serene working environment and loosely co-ordinate the items so that it looks pretty on your desk.

4) Stylish stationary.

Because it somehow feels better doing those accounts with a pretty pencil on a decorative notepad or simply pencilled into a stylish diary.

Pencils

5) Art or Motivational words.

Surround yourself with pieces that you love and make you want to be in your office.

6) Something Green.

A plant like a cactus is pretty to look at and low maintenance so you won’t need to be worrying about wilting flowers.

7) Chair.

A comfy stylish high back chair will beckon you to sit at your desk and get to work!

8) Re use old pots.

Wash out old candle pots and use them for small items like paperclips or pencil sharpeners.

9) Light a candle.

Because it’ll make the room smell good and will keep you calm on Monday morning!
