The Investment Boot With Attitude

Ok, it seems appropriate that I delve into the excitement of next season with a little look at what is number one on my buy list – the leopard print boot. I must admit that when I spied them on  a few people last year, they didn’t incite that much envy – just admiration that they had the guts do it. Now, as my feet are covered in pop socks and trainers for the first time in 6 weeks – I can turn my head to what will be covering my trotters over the next few months and I think a pair of leopard prints is going to be my part of my repertoire!

If you aren’t sure either, check out the inspo I took from Pinterest.

My default would be black jeans, but this shows that you really can dress them down with blue jeans.

Block heel and black jeans. Voila.

More dressy and even more gorgeous.

I am on the hunt for some dark grey jeans similar to the below – as think they bridge the gap between day and evening perfectly. And look how well they go with the leopard boots!

So, if you are inspired and want to take the plunge, I urge you to hop not he bandwagon quickly as I guarantee some of the more popular/reasonably proved brands wont have your size!

Holiday Style : Packing with Panache

I don’t imagine you are as chaotic as me when it comes to packing. After tying up loose ends on here (The London Mummy), ‘training’ my lovely mother how to send out parcels from TLM Edit orders (thank you Mum!), co-hosting hubby’s 40th birthday camping party, moving house,  visiting my poorly father, saying au revoir to my Brazilian bound brother and starting a new partnership with the wonderful House of Fraser (which I am very excited about!) this last month has been rather hectic.

Anyway, with all that going on, you may see why I have come on a summer holiday and packed far too may sweatshirts and jeans, forgot my swimming costume, totally ignored the fact I may like to wear some different jewellery (all left in a brown box) and generally feel unprepared.

(If you are wondering why I am still doing TLM whilst all this is going on – it’s because I find it relaxing and helps me switch off…ok?)

So, back to the point – what to pack for a summer holiday…

Swimming Costume. Black is always a good option. I love this Kenneth Cole Crochet Swimsuit £85 as it covers you up but isn’t too mumsy.

Kenneth Cole

Sunglasses. It has to be pink this summer. These Ray Ban Pink Gold £161 are high on my wishlist!

ray ban

So foot wear. These, below, are the ‘new’ espadrilles. Espadrille Trainers innit.

And, if you really want to be in there – get ones with a ‘flatform’.

I cannot believe these puppies are on sale for £25 and have every size available. I am going to beat you to it! The colour and added height will take your legs up to the sky!

Dune Flatforms £25

I think flip flops are a bit like marmite. But, I love them as they are practical etc. This slim style from Havianas are a bit more feminine and with the bright orange on tanned feet (!) they would look rather lovely!

Havainas Slim Flip Flop £26

flip flops

You definitely need some relaxed clothes for the morning before you think about what you are going to wear.

You want to get passed breakfast and not have to change, My default are beach trousers to spare fellow diners my white pins and a t shirt. This sounds rather frumpy but let me introduce you to these…

Maison De Nîmes Beach Trousers £26

Versatile and flattering. Get a pair!

Sugarhill Boutique Star Collar T Shirt £26

I really believe you cant have enough T Shirts on holiday. If only I had known! ha.

Holiday Style : Bold & Bright

As you know I am partial to a bit of brights when it comes to the summer. Metallic. Tick. Neon. Tick. Glitter. Tick. Not sure when I will grow up, but hey you can’t deny what you like. If August ain’t going to shine bright then I feel we have to.  The It colour of the summer is yellow but have added my two staple summer colours Hot Pink & Electric Blue. So if you are in my camp too, check out some finds that will jazz up your summer style!

Holiday Style : Let’s Kit The Boys Out

Thank goodness the selection of boys clothes in the shops has grown over the last few years. It used to be pretty basic but now if you know where to look the boys can give the girls a run for their money in the cuteness and originality stakes. There also more individual and dedicated websites just for the boys (more on that soon!)

However, I am pretty trad in how I dress the boys so high street shopping works for me.  There is a lot of blue. A lot of stripes. Nothing too way out. So if this is a little safe for you, I won’t be offended if you quietly move on. If you are in the running for some timeless basics, stick with me and let’s head to trusty M and S.

Younger boys : 0-5

Riptape Trainers from £16

Seeing as below the age of 10 they race through their shoes at  very high speed, best to go cheap and cheerful. These are very sweet too.

Riptape Young Boys Trainers

Dino Top from £5

Love the two tone endnote too overtly appliqué.

Young Boys Dino Long Sleeve T Shirt

Blue Cotton Star Print Top from £5

Same look as above but it wouldn’t be a TLM post without a star or two in it!

Boys Long Sleeve Star Top

Dude Long Sleeve Top from £5

I don’t love the motif on this but I do love the slightly different green if you are eating something a bit different to ‘safe’ blue.

Dude Long Sleeve Top

Textured Jumper from £12

I love how M and S have focussed on this subtle texture. It keeps the clothes simple enough but adds little bit of much needed detail on kids clothes.

Textured Boys Jumper

Pure Cotton Striped Jumper £12

This only goes up to 1 yr. Wish it went older.

Baby Blue & White Stripe Jumper

Older boys : 3-16

Driving Shoes : Grey from £26

Alot of the more popular coloured boys driving shoes have sold out but this practical grey which would go with everything is still in every size.

Boys Grey Suede Driving Shoes

‘Clogs’ from £9

Who would know these weren’t.. umm.. cough.. the original ones. I wouldn’t.

Boys Beach Shoes

Printed Swim Shorts from £10

These are really fun and I am a massive fan of slightly longer looking board shorts than shorter trunks that can look a bit ‘Copacabana beach’ in them if you get what I mean.

Electric Blue Boys Swimming Trunks

Dark Blue Swimmers from £10

These are really smart and would love them in a mens sizes.

Dark Blue Boys Swimmers

Striped Rash Vest from £8

Fresh and easily spotted from the other side of the swimming pool.

Striped Rash Vest

Footy PJs from £19

There is no avoiding the football obsession (lucky if you are) and a good way to avoid them wanting team pjs is to put these across their path.

Football PJ's

Checked Shirt from £12

Roll the sleeves up, unbutton a couple of the top buttons, which on some shorts and a great al fresco look.

Boys Check Shirt

Cotton Trunks from £8

Why are these called trunks? Anyway, there comes a time in every boys life when the briefs have to go and these have to enter. I would say from age 4 at the LATEST.

Cotton Pants

Green Colour Block Sunglasses £6

A bit of fun. Until they lose them!

Green Sunglasses

Hope this has helped and will emerald you to fill in any holiday clothing gaps for your little chap.

Holiday Style : Show Stopping Girls Dresses

One item I never have to actively look for are girls clothes – dresses to be precise. It is possibly one of the most popular start ups ideas that I come across and I can see why. It is easy to buy a dress online for your little one as if you like it, choose the size and it will more often than not fit – unlike mumma who has to contend with length, erratic sizing and indecision! Anyway, despite the ease of us all being able to walk into the local supermarket for milk and leave with a pretty summer dress for the pint size funster, I thought I would nonetheless give a shout to some new businesses and some slightly more established ones. One thing they all have in common is how to design a very sweet little girls dress!

Outside The Lines : Anya Pom Pom Dress £30

I first came across Outside The Lines with this sleeveless collared smock dress. Take a look. Some lovely fresh items

pompom-dress-frontv1

Juniper Berry White & Neon Pink Dress £35

I first found this new brand last week at a local fair. The neon accents are insanely eye catching and I have a feeling she has cornered a market with these eye catching numbers.

Mini Maharajas : Paloma Dress £45

So bright and vivid – the hard thing is to chose which colour from this gorgeous brand that uses hand block prints from India. dsc_0008_1024x1024

After doing a Spotlight on this Australian brand that have hit our shores, I have always had my eye on this for a striking summer dress.

As loyal fans of everything Little Leggies do (cannot wait for their new collection and website coming very soon) this denim and pink pom pom dress sums them up. Simple and epic.

My Twirl : Bespoke Dress

As a massive fan of My Twirl dresses already, I was delighted t hear that you can now design your own fabric. The idea is that you choose your little ones favourite artwork (or the one that work best on a dress) and they print it for you!

Holiday Style : Summer Dresses You Can Actually Wear

There has been quite a lot of chat at the school gates, that some of our trusty high street shops have become a bit ‘young’. Either that or we are getting old! However I imagine you all agree that there are a few eye catching numbers out there but when you go closely you see there is an unnecessary twist to it – i.e. it’s cropped, the shoulders are cut out, it is far too short or there is a ruffle on it so huge you would be mistaken for a sail. So I have done some perusing through the sales and the pre fall collections, as I am in the market for some wearable, decent, well cut and well priced summer dresses. Here is my short list!

Yumi Flamingo Tea Dress £35

I love this eye catching blue and with flamingos all over it makes it even better!

i_5052011144247_51_20160112

Marks and Spencer Yellow Maxi Dress £55

I am wearing my yellow dress from Marks and Sparks and it seems to have gone done well, other than people wondering why I am wearing a dress ‘You must be off somewhere?’ No, it is nice and cool! This one is even looser. Pretty. Love a bit of canary yellow!

sd_01_t42_2159_b0_x_ec_0

Marks and Spencer Tie Back Navy Midi Dress £45

Makes me feel a bit hot looking at this, however as it usually cools down in August (why is that??)  this is a good transitional piece to invest in for early Autumn.

Topshop is doing well at Tea Dresses this season – the only problem is arm the normal sizes are already sold out. However, head off the beaten track and check out their ‘tall ‘ section and you will be pleasantly surprised and will also mean the dresses aren’t too short! That’s my plan anyway…

Summer Beauty Box

I did a whip down the Kings Road last week (went in to the Ash sale to look for summer sales and came out with wedge trainers and charcoal ankle boots for the winter… buy when you see is my motto and they were 40% off Justify justify…) After Zara, Gap, FCUK I wandered into M and S for a strapless bra and came out with said item, a new top that I put in my last M and S post and a massive box of (literally felt like) FREE beauty items (worth £105 for £10 when you spend over £40 – no brainer eh?)

fullsizerender-100

How on earth did that happen? I spent £40 on bras and top and for £10 you could purchase the Beauty Box.

I am not usually one to agree to things like this at a till (Britney Spears perfume for £8.99? No thanks..) but when I had a look at the contents, I thought oooh I do need all that stuff! ha.

Holiday Style : 20 Head Turning Espadrilles

So the default summer shoe for most people is the espadrille. And oh, how much funked they have got this year than the bog standard ones that you would find on a beach stall of a couple of years ago.
