The Skirts To Wear Before Your Legs are Summer Ready

On the school run this morning, there are the haves and the have nots. Some will don shorts at the first sign of plus 15C, not needing to do any squats or exfoliating in preparation.  Then there is the majority who will just about wear a pair of shorts at a push at the end of the summer, and that’s only to do the gardening (me!)

Obviously there is the in-between too (before I am slammed for massive generalisations)

This post is for those who want to wear a skirt but don’t feel confident YET to bare all.

So, What Is The Answer?

The Midi Skirt.

It isn’t exactly a new concept but it is really on trend this summer.

What’s So Good About It?

  • Mid length so not too daring but not frumpy as flashes a bit of leg.
  • Can be longer the back and shorter at the front (come on – no ankles are that bad)
  • High waisted so no muffin top.
  • Patterned so you can really have some fun.

How Do You Wear Them?

  • I am allergic to sandals. Sandals with heel and a midi skirt to me screams total middle age. Trainers (for some suggestions have a look here) or wedges, espadrilles (My Fashion Tribu has a great selection of Espadrilles – will do more later but if you can’t wait…)
  • If in doubt what to wear on your top half – go with a white T shirt. I am on the hunt for the perfect White T so will revert when I find (I have been recommended Primark and Great Plains so far…)
  • A denim jacket is super versatile. Or there are lots of pale leather jackets around at the moment. I am wearing a Zara blazer with my midi below – I don’t love the look and would have been happier in denim but I needed to look a bit smarter hence the blazer.

This is my skirt debut for this year!

The Brewery

It’s from ASOS and only £32… A real winner in my eyes (and Polka Dots are so in this summer).

Here it is up close (on a model!)

Polka dot skirt

Another skirt I have just bought is this pleated Midi skirt also from ASOS.  Thank you so much to Helen at 40plusnotgivingupyet on Instagram for the inspiration.  I love it!

Pleated Midi Skirt

Here are some others I have my eye on

River Island Green Jaquard Tie Waist Skirt £38

Green Skirt

Pitusa Peruvian Skirt £80

How cool is this skirt? And it’s on sale? Ok, it may not be the total school run skirt but dress it down and it’s a winner!

pitusa

Mint Velvet Caroline Printed Maxi Skirt £89

Ok, not strictly midi but its not a full on axe either die to the split up the middle. I put this on my isntastories as I love it. See what I mean about these skirts with a denim jacket?

Caroline Mint Velvet

BA&SH Talo Embroidered Midi Skirt £155

Love the embroidered high waist panel. So useful etc etc

Embroidered Panel

8pm Asymetric Peplum Hem Skirt £121

If you reckon you can keep a white skirt clean, this is gorgeous.

Peplum skirt

Marks Frill Denim Skirt £29

I love this! In fact, I am going to buy it right now as all the size are in and I think it will be sturdy and you will be able to wheel it out on loads of occasions throughout the summer.

Marks Frill Skirt

If you have a bit of a healthier budget than the suggestions above Isabel Marant Etoile has a gorgeous range of ruffle and assymetic skirts, both midi, mini and maxi.

If you are looking for a Denim Jacket, so as pale as possible. I love the Hush one.

Hope you enjoy the sun! (The girls at Not Such a Model Mum have just done a post on the best SPF for your face which is VERY useful…)

Get Ahead of Your Kids Summer Wardrobe

When I have had a spare moment these Easter holidays, I have been packing parcels for my shop (I have a theory that it’s busy in the holidays as women only have a second to do an online purchase rather than head to bricks and mortar stores as they do during the term time?) However it’s good to be back in the hot seat – sharing recommendations with you on The London Mummy!

We pretty much beavered away doing house jobs all weekend.

Decluterring, cleaning, gardening and wardrobe weeding.

I love an annual Spring clean and it was good to do before we bought anything new and take a reccy of what we actually needed. So what did we need? Other than a new drier (door has fallen off), TV (playdate gone very wrong – door stop thrown in to screen – on purpose) and new loo (rather embarrassing when you hear your guests yelp from the downstairs bathroom, oops I forgot to warn them about the wobbly loo seat) let’s talk kids clothes today.

What did we discover during the annual clothing reshuffle?

My daughter (3ys) had 7 different variations on a pink skirt and 20122 summer dresses, but no summer cardigans.

My second son (5 ys)  didn’t have any holes in his summer wardrobe, other than claims he needed a new football kit (umm no I don’t think you need every stripe in the Premier league!)

My oldest (7ys)  seems to get longer but not wider, so all the ankle swinging jeans were passed down to his younger brother (hence why he needs nothing!) and we resolve this long thin dilemma with shorts!

(I will save the gaps in my wardrobe for another time – oh is that the postman delivering a parcel? Yes, there will be a few parcels arriving this week!!)

So, where do you head when you need to do a practical, quality and well price? You guessed it – it’s time for Marks and Spencer Kids!

GIRLS 3 – 16 YEARS

Lobster Sequin Sweatshirt £16- £22

This goes up to age 16 (all the items I have included today are ages 3-16) and I do wonder if this could fit me? (That’s short-lived as I know it wouldn’t but I wish it did!)

Lobster Sequin Sweater

Tassel Pure Cotton Top £14 – £20

The placement of the tassels on this top makes it slightly different to the usual neck tie tassels. Just very cute. #addstobasket

screen-shot-2018-04-16-at-10-41-33

Frill Jump Suit £20 – £26

This colour isn’t for everyone but this jumpsuit has the potential to look very cool on the right little lady. (I am not sure I would put a 16 year old in it though, would you?)

Jumpsuit

Pure Cotton Sleeveless Ruffle Top £8 – £12

Want want want. (adult sizes M and S?) Will go with everything.

Avoid anything tomato sauce related when in it though.

Ruffle T Shirt

Frill Sleeve Stripe Playsuit  £18 – £24

The colour, the pattern, the ruffle sleeves, the belt. Yes, this is a winner.

Striped Playsuit

Tankini Set £12 – £18

I am not a fan of little girls in bikinis but I can stretch to a tankini if it is fun and not too grown up.  Love the colours and ruffles of this one – very Rio carnival.

Tankini

Striped Culotte £12 – £18

These look great on the girl modelling them and with a little white t-shirt, I think this could look lovely and super different to the norm.

Culotte

BOYS 3-16 YEARS

Long Sleeve Polo Necks £4 – £7

These classic polo necks come in white and navy too. They are super easy to wear and they go with everything and for that price they could have one in every colour.

Polo

Pure Cotton Knitted Jumper £10 – £16

Again, not crazy but will go with everything.  Also comes in grey.

Cotton Jumper

Colour Block Hooded Gilet £20 – £26

The retro feel of this gilet combined with the classic colours makes this a very wearable coat for the Spring/Summer.

Gilet

White Embroidered Stretchy Cotton Shorts £10 – £16 Ages 3 – 16

You have to be very quick if you want to get these (or the pinks below for that matter) as a few sizes have sold out already. You can see why can’t you.

I LOVE THEM.

White Shorts

and also in pink

Pink shorts

Drawstring Swim shorts £10 – £16

Swimming shorts have to have a tie. It’s a false economy buying cheaper ones with a fake tie and just elasticated waist. (I am now a narrow waist expert – and it’s not mine I am talking about!)

swim shorts

Hibiscus Print Red Swim Shorts £10 – £16

You will certainly be able to spot little Timmy in the distance with these.

Hibiscus Trunks

Waterproof Cloggs

These specimens are now part of middle class culture – so whether you like them or not they are here to stay – and the kids love them.

Cloggs

Enjoy the rest of the holidays! We are now changing over the school uniform from winter to summer, trying on shoes for size and doing last-minute homework. I am not leaving it to the night before (just day before this time!) like usual…

Love from

What The Style Set Are Wearing This Spring

Each season a look will catch my eye.  The look that keeps catching my eye on social media (aka Instagram) this Spring is jacket, skirt, sneakers and cross-body bag. I am calling it Feminine Relaxed Chic. Not sure that will cotton on but it’s pretty, quick to throw on and comfortable for racing around and if you get it right – very cool. (Yes I was born in the 80’s so cool is my default word. I understand the word to describe cool now is ‘sic’. Just isn’t going to happen. Can you imagine if I started describing things as sic?)

Start with the skirt. Nothing says Spring like a skirt and a full length or mid length is a good way to ease you into sunnier months before you have a tan.

The Skirt

Full Length Maxi Skirt

Fun, flattering and hides a multitude of sins.

Long Skirt

I am loving this one.

Maison Di Times Embroidered Maxi Skirt £59

Love the elasticated wide waistband.

Maxi skirt

Hi Lo Skirt

This is low at the back, high at the front – perfect to cover up the back of your legs and to show off your ankles and footwear)

Hi Low

Yumi High Low Floral Skirt £45

Great with a tucked in white t-shirt.

Yumi

Coast High Low Skirt £99

Mix up your fabrics and wear this organza with a cotton top and sneakers for a glamorous low key look.

Metallic Creped Midi Skirt

An easy way to wear metallic if you fancy it but feel it is too much near your face.

Pleated Midi

Yumi London Crinkled Midi Skirt £25

This rose gold skirt is a versatile colour and also comes in grey. A price that allows you to buy as an experiment!

crinkled skirt

The Top

A plain T shirt if you have a loud skirt.

Whistles Short Sleeve Linen Tee £45

Whistles Tee

Slogan/Logo T Shirt

I do love a slogan tee. (BTW a Logo Tee has the brand on it and a Slogan has a picture or words not branded… You probably knew that already – it has only just clicked with me!)

Rainbow T Shirt

True Religion Tee £70

Quite Gucci inspired.

True Religion

Jane Norman Sassy T Shirt £16

Simple but sassy… 😉

Sassy

The Jacket

Denim Jacket

Jessica Alba nails this look by adding a fitted denim jacket. It not only gives a bit of structure but will also keep your warm if the temperature drops.

Jessica Alba

Oasis Denim Jacket £45

This is a good length (to hip) and quite stretchy.

Denim Jacket

Leather Jacket

I would personally find it hard it hard to wear a leather jacket in any colour other than black, although there are a lot of cream and pale pink jackets at the moment. (Mint Velvet is a good start if that’s what you are after)

Leather Jacket

Oasis Authentic Leather Biker Jacket £168

For the style and quality – this is a steal. Loving Oasis jackets at the moment!

Leather Jacket

Sneakers

I am so pleased this look works with sneakers. Flats could look a bit mumsy and boots just need to be consigned to the back of your wardrobe.

Kendall & Kylie (yes Kardashian!) Flatform Trainers £169

The yellow! Platformed! Height and colour = love!

Kendall

Aldo Nydoilia Trainers £70

Ok, not for everyone, but did feel they had to be brought to your attention as they are so fun!

Aldo

Kurt Geiger Lace Up Trainers £99

These are classic and versatile. Not everything you wear has to be a conversation starter!

Kurt

Bags

It has to be a cross-body bag! Keep your hands free to hold little hands and grab one of these.  I love these colourful ones.

Kurt Geiger Richmond Disco Bag £99

Disco Bag

Calvin Klein Saddle Crossbody Bag £110

Yellow Bag

Lulu Guinesss Lip Cross Body NOW £180

Lip Cross Body

Hope this has given you some ideas. I am looking forward to putting away some winter clothes and experimenting with this look!

Lots of love

How To Achieve Smart Casual In-between the Seasons

Aren’t there just Summer Sales and Boxing Day (January) sales? Now there seems to be sales dotted throughout the year, whenever the individual retailer fancies (Guilty as charged – I have a permanent ‘Special Prices‘ section on TLM Edit!). When I popped into Marks and Spencer’s yesterday, some of the items that I had bought full price last week, were now in the sale! I thought I would share some of my recent purchases that I have bought to add some versatile pieces to my wardrobe that are perfect for layering up in-between the seasons.

Here is what I wore to my Press Lunch last week.

4cc5b2a4-aacf-41c6-a4b7-7f0cc53102bd

The Satin Tunic Top Was £27 and is now £18

Nice and long so I could tuck it in and the neckline was flattering – not showing too much chest but enough.

Red Chinos £25

These are a good length and flattering although size down as they really give by the end of the day!

Wedge Espadrilles in Almond £45

I bought these as I knew my size would be pretty much sold out by the time I really needed them. A really versatile colour and you can wear with darks and lights too.

Here are the red chinos that I have teamed with a classic white shirt I was drawn to the large silver buttons down the side and on the sleeves (sorry it is out of stock now in every size but here is another alternative if you are looking for a classic shirt with a bit of interesting detail – this one with cute frill cuff)

Flatlay

I was also magnetically drawn to these ankle grazers and bought them in black (obviously). They are true to size and hold their shape.

ankle grazers

For a more tailored look, I would put them with a stripe Breton. This red and white one  is only £8.50 so I also bought it in the blue and white!  They would also look great with a white shirt.

Flatlay

If you want to smarten up an outfit instantly, a blazer works a treat. Although this is one item that will have to be put away when the sun appears it is definitely a wardrobe staple.

I think this One Button Black Tux Blazer that is in all sizes and reduced from £69 to £34 won’t be around for long!

The weather is set to pick up just in time for the Easter holidays, so whether you are sticking around or jetting off to sunnier chimes, I hope this has helped xx

Days Out Travel

Lucknam Park : A Perfect Night Away

This post is hard to start. If I am truly honest (which is of course the route I am going to go down) I will be sure to incite a little of bit of envy when I tell you about my whistle stop trip with my mother, to Lucknam Park near Chippenham in Wiltshire last Thursday.  You have to know about this hotel (if you don’t already) and add it to your bucket list. Here is why…

After an easy journey from the M4, we meandered up the tree lined entrance to Lucknam Park at midday.  I was struck by its grandeur.

Lucknam Park

This 10th Century building was home to various Airstoctratic families until it was turned into a hotel in 1987.  In 1994 the hotel was bought by a European shipping family who operate Lucknam Park as a single private hotel property. Below is a picture taken of inside the courtyard.

Inside the courtyard

We started with a quick coffee in the Brasserie before we explored.  Yes, you can tell I was pretty happy to be here!

Lucinda

We wondered around the landscaped gardens. There were gardeners beavering about in every corner. I was suprised not to see them cutting the edges with nail scissors – it was immaculate.

Outside

There were numerous pretty pathways and secret gardens throughout (which you are allowed to enter).   It is a wonderful destination if you are a keen gardener.

Secret Garden

One of my mothers highlight was the Orangerie – not because it was a designated smoking room (she doesn’t smoke but it was quite novel) but because it was so stylish and would make a fantastic garden room if you had the space and money!

Orangerie

Not only is Lucknam Park part of Relais & Châteaux exclusive 500 of the finest hotels and gourmet hotels across the world due to its beautiful setting, this 5* hotel boasts an excellent Spa, Cookery School and one of the only on site Equestrian Centres with her 500 acres to explore.

The Cookery School was in full swing – I could have happily joined in!

Cookery School

I loved the home from home feeling, especially in the drawing room where you could have afternoon tea or drinks that felt like in the comfort of your own home (obviously without the antique furniture and interior designed rooms!)

Drawing Room

My mother loved the multitude of fresh flowers and the clever way they were arranged.

Fresh Flowers

The Spa is accessible to all hotel guests or you can book for just the day.  They use ESPA products which always make me feel like I’m at a spa due to the lovely lemony wafts from the oils and diffusers that are omitted through shout the spa and your treatment room.

Spa

We had an excellent deep tissue massage with Abi and Tania and felt well and truly pummelled and preened afterwards. We were instructed to rest and drink camomile tea in the rest room afterwards! We didn’t complain – it was the first time I have lied down during the day in a few years (unless I have had a heavy night the night before 😉
img_5211

The tranquil pool was utilised by many of the guests but never crowded and I couldn’t believe I actually forgot my swimsuit. (For those who ambitious to use all the facilities they did have s mall shop where you could buy swimsuits and aids…)

Indoor pool

I loved that the indoor pool continued on outside. This would be even more incredible in the summer when its slightly warmer and all the flowers are out.

Outside pool

Now for food. An important topic for me and many!

There are two dining options, a Michelin starred restaurant – Hywel Jones (see below) or the more informal Brasserie.

Hywel Jones

(BTW If you want a taste of old school opulence but cant stretch to Michelin prices, breakfast is held in the same room as Hywel Jones).

Mum

Before supper, we had a lovely drink in the old school drawing room. On the left hand side of the photo  there is a permanent puzzle that you can add to or plenty of wooden games on the side tables and sills to keep you occupied.

Bar

After our evening drinks, we headed to The Brasserie which is in close proximity to the Spa (so a perfect suit stop for lunch in-between treatments too).

We chose to share the sirloin steak (golly, doesn’t that sound gutsy and unladylike but it was delicious!!)

Sirloin Steak

We stayed midweek so there were a mix of guests both local, international and many staying due to the nearby Cheltenham racecourse.

I have no doubt, on the weekend there would be many couples enjoying the tranquility of being somewhere so beautiful and grabbing a quick couple of days away from their kids.

Whether you come on your own for some solo recuperation, fancy some cooking lessons, participating in some riding clinics or for a family gathering with multi generations – you really couldn’t beat it.

It is world class.

How To Decorate for a Magical Easter with John Lewis

This post has been written in collaboration with John Lewis however all opinions are my own.

Christmas decorations are compulsory but when it comes to the second most important celebration in the calendar, Easter – it is deemed optional. Well, it is for me! That was until I decided to step up the job of creating core memories (nothing like a bit of repetition and routine to instil this – don’t ask me about the physiology here though)  and invest in some Easter decorations that I can whip out each year.  This is how I envisage my Easter table to look…

Table setting

The obvious choice to buy good quality decorations is John Lewis and I had no doubt there would be a nice display of tasteful decorations of which to choose from. I was right!

John Lewis

Here are my top picks for Easter decorations from John Lewis.

Easter Tree

A great base for decoration that packs a punch and that you can move from room to room is an Easter tree. I love this one – you can move the branches around, put decorations around the base and hang some eggs from the branches.

Easter Tree

Cracker Carrots £10

These are very sweet and the bright orange would really add colour to your Easter table whilst also giving the kids an activity to do in the run up.

Crackers

Eater Bunny Garland £8

Bunnies are one of the symbols of Easter – does anyone know why? and this garland would look lovely above a window.

Easter Garland

Vintage Hanging Easter Eggs £8

I really wanted to buy the glass ones, but just can’t risk it. We have a kitten that jumps on the table and children that can get quite wild at times 🙂 so I opted for these ceramics ones that aren’t as delicate but are still as lovely.

Hanging eggs

Fluffy Chicks £5

These fluffy chicks would work well along a windowsill and won’t cause any harm if they fall off!

chicks

Egg Yolk Candles – Set of 3 £6

Wasn’t quite sure of the relevance of sheep other than Easter falling in Springtime, however my NZ mother would appreciate them. Instead I thought the egg yolk candles would make the table look pretty both lit or not.

Sheep

There was also plenty of options for easter eggs, Easter egg hunts and table linen such as mats, napkins and even egg cups! I quite fancy this wreath. What do you think?

Hope this has given you some ideas. Have a lovely weekend! x

Oskia London : Improve Your Skin With These Products

There is a first for everything, and I had a first this weekend that I never expected to happen – ever. Growing up, I had severe acne. From the ages of 15-17 it was horrific – I was actually pleased I was at an all girls boarding school (!) so I didn’t have to face the ‘real world’. After failing with many different medications both internally and tropically – I hit the hard stuff and was prescribed Roaccutane – twice. For those that know this drug, it is not for the fainthearted and is really the last resort. Now I have grown out of it (thank fully although I lie awake at night praying that none of my children have my ‘gene’) and when I apply my tinted moisturiser I still so pleased I don’t have to trowel it on my skin and camouflage my face with industrial cover up.

So, this weekend when someone commented that I had ‘lovely’ skin, I really was taken a back and was very British about it ‘oh no i don’t, it’s so dry, I have pock marks etc’ as I genuinely don’t think I have good skin.

But actually, when I think about and look up close, I do have pretty good skin. It is smooth, well nourished and looks well cared for.

This is only a relatively recent thing in the last few years, since I have jumped not he bandwagon of using serums and acids and what not.

And then after a chance meeting with one of Alex’s old friends in the pub, who introduced me to his brand OSKIA, after trying it, it improved even more. I love all their products for dehydrated skin

Dehydration

Rather than wax lyrical about how incredible this brand is, I will recall a text that my friend sent me, after she used my OSKIA.

“Wow, I love that OSKIA oil and moisturiser, my skin feels and looks amazing – thanks for the tip!”

You are welcome my friend.

And today, not only do we have an interview with the founders but they are also offering a generous 25% off with londonmummy18 if you buy through their website

What made you start OSKIA Georgie?

After trying my fathers MSM supplement (a bio available form of sulphur that he was introducing to the market to repair horse joints) my complexion glowed – no eczema or acne – and  my nails were so strong.

I started researching the effects of tropical nutrients on the skin and OSKIA launched in 2009 as the first nutritional skincare brand that focuses on bio-available nutrients.

Since then we have won over 100 awards, opened our own lab and factory in the rolling hills of Wales in Monmouth, where I come from. My amazing husband, George Gordon, runs the business with me, which luckily works very well, and we split our time between our London HQ on Sloane Street, and our factory in Wales.

Georgie

I have seen OSKIA in many of the high end department stores. Who else stocks OSKIA?

We are really lucky in that we work with the best of the best and have never approached any retailer ourselves. In the UK, you can find us in stores such as SpaceNK, Selfridges, Net a Porter, and hotel spas like the famous Cliveden & Chewton Glen (both of which I have just formulated their own brand spa products for them) but we also love the independent stores and spas like Mortar & Milk and the very cool Pig Hotels.

Of the products I tried, I think your Renaissance 360 made the biggest difference to the condition of my skin.

rennaissance 360

What are your best-selling products?

Probably our Renaissance Cleansing Gel, which is a lovely pink enzyme cleanser and the first gel-to-oil on the market when it launched.

However, our Restoration Oil is also very popular as is the Renaissance Mask which is amazing before or after an event….

Renaissance Mask

Do you have celebrity endorsements?

Lots, but I’m afraid we don’t spill the beans. It drives my PR mad but I very strongly believe that skincare is private and brands shouldn’t divulge. We have a very ‘British’ approach to this, which is probably the reason why we have a very loyal celebrity base. I have a growing pile of thank you letters from the most amazing people – I am very lucky! What I can tell you though is that we also work with the British movie industry- Bridget Jones, Tomb Raider, Danish Girl, Le Mis, Star Wars. You might have spotted our products in Bridget Jones’s Baby – I nearly fell of my seat when they popped up.

What’s next for OSKIA?

We have some really lovely new launches this summer which I’m very excited about – they slightly bring out the inner girl. We’ve also just launched in the US with Barney’s, so this will take quite a lot of focus for this next year.

Georgie’s Favourites

Restaurant : The Dairy, Clapham Old Town. I can only really describe it as British seasonal tapas – and absolutely amazing.

Hotel : Any of the Firmdale hotels. Currently, I’m loving The Crosby Street Hotel in New York. I think Kit Kemp is a genius designer.

Shop : I recently discovered By Drew in Soho New York. I walked in and screeched that I would like to buy everything – the clothes, the carpets, the chairs, everything. I would like to live in it. Like most mothers I spend far too much time in Peter Jones.

Website : Tricky one as I don’t spend much time browsing websites. I do love antiques though and love www.the-saleroom.com. That makes me sound really boring though doesn’t it!!

Holiday destination : Tulum, 20 years ago. It is still amazing though. I love bare foot chic and really don’t like the big flash hotels. I’d be very happy in a rustic cabanas with no air conditioning. Tulum is heaven.

Parenting tip :

Oh my goodness where do I start. I have 3 children, ranging from 18 months to 7, and I worked the day before Arthur, 7, was born. I think being a mother is really hard work and absolutely exhausting. Juggling work and family is harder still and I always feel guilty – either I’m not working hard enough or I’m not with my children. However, I strongly believe there is no right work/life balance and if anyone says they do they are fibbing. Instagram really doesn’t help which is why I’ve kept off it until now (I now do post!).  We are all doing a brilliant job! So my biggest tip is to do something everyday just for yourself, whether it is a walk, reading the papers in a cafe, spending 30 mins in a gallery, or having a quiet bath (that last one never works – children can sniff out a ‘family bath’ in no time and suddenly there are an extra 3 bodies in the bath.)

Do make the most of this incredible offer. The website is really easy to navigate and remember –  you are worth it – you only have one skin!

TLM Edit Press Launch

Well it would be weird not to cover my own press lunch wouldn’t it! I am sitting at my desk buzzing after a wonderful lunch with lovely ladies who have championed me since I started my little shop alongside The London Mummy. When Daze from Archie’s Food asked if I would like to review their catering service, I jumped at the chance and decided to tie it in with a Spring launch to showcase all my new goodies.  Here is how it went…

The trio from Archie’s Food Husband and wife duo William (his middle name is Archie) and Daze with their professional silver service waiter Mark arrived in good time and set to work moving chairs, laying up and prepping the food.

2018-03-08-photo-00000367

It was so lovely not to have to worry about any of those logistics and I knew from the excellent communication that I had with Daze in the run up, that everything was in hand.  We had decided that the menu would be a light Spring lunch – and the best bit to start with Champagne cocktails (see the raspberry above!)

Menu

I could just…. get to work on my currency plan (I valued every one of my items in terms of coins and then every guest was given 5 points to choose items up to that value. Don’t worry if you don’t get – maybe it was a bit weird, but it worked and meant everyone chose what they wanted!!)

Currency

Archie’s Food not only cater for private and corporate events, they have a space for events above their office (kitchen that is open for the best coffee in Fulham!) so if you are wanting to do private event or launch – this might be just the place.  The  Halibut and Aubergine was an absolute taste sensation!

Halibut

The lovely Susie Babington Gardens styled my studio starting with a beautiful arrangement of white orchids on a side table (aka my deep freeze!)

2018-03-08-photo-00000399

She then turned her hand to creating a stunning country garland to run across the table.

2018-03-08-photo-00000406

I love her upmarket style and it was a joy to watch her with her floristry scissors snipping away effortlessly creating such wonderful arrangements.

2018-03-08-photo-00000360

If you are looking for a florist for an event, to gift someone a bunch, garden design or want to check out her new ‘Unreal’ range – a very deceptive faux flowers.

Here are a few snaps of the room.  I had areas for earrings and necklaces, cuffs and key rings and bag and bag straps.

As many of the bloggers and stylists were off to sunnier chimes in Easter, the beach cover ups and clutches were big hits!

kaftans

The items not he lower rails are detachable fake collars – not shirts for kids btw!

One of the most popular items were the funky sunglasses – a few inspired by Gucci and Victoria Beckham!

Sunglasses

A huge thank you to all the ladies who headed down to the countryside for a day out – perfect for International Women’s Day! Head over to my Instastories to see who was there!

So if you are off somewhere warm, need a gift for a pal or just need to update your look now the weather is warmer, please have a look at my new website – my mission is to sell items that you can’t find elsewhere so you don’t look like everyone else, all at a good price and of course with a dash of colour, tassel or sparkle!

Have a great day,

Lots of love

Lucinda xx
