School Run Style : 9 Pairs of Boots

On Saturday night, I threw on my blue jeans as I was wearing a cream top and wanted to go for the pale vibe. Then when I went to choose my footwear, I became unstuck! I have a great selection of trainers and pairs of black boots but when it comes to paler shoes or boots to go with blue or pale jeans, I am at a loss! Woe is me I hear you say. Yes perspective… But anyway, I am on the hunt for some boots that will see me through the day to the evening!

Here is my shortlist..

When I first caught sight of the Chloe buckle boots, I recoiled in horror. To me they looked slightly strange, even ugly.

However, as a lot of things (like Uggs!) they have grown on me. Whilst the original Chloe’s are well out of my budget, there are now lots of similar styles around. I have my eyes on these from Tophsop.

Montana Ankle Boots £55

I love the red too not sure how much use I would get out of them! Can’t get sidetracked from my ‘pale’ mission…

Office also do them at £85. Check out the blush pink ones!

I also love the Isabel Marant Dicker Ankle Boots £315

However the Isabel ones are ALSO out of my budget so Hush Thornton Ankle Boots £150 are a great alternative.

If you are more a grey kinda girl- these boots from Seven Boot Lane – Grey Suede Ankle Boots £155 will see you from the school run to the evening easily.

If you are looking for something slightly more glamorous one these from Ted Baker Lorca Ankle Boots in Mink £160 are gorgeous. Anything with Mink in the title has to be pretty!

Ok I am not sure if I actually would, but on my cyber travelsI found these Penelope Chilvers Safari Patchwork Boot £229 and thought they have to be given some air time!

‘School Run’ Dresses

Despite the weather going two steps forward, one step back, at least it is going in an upward curve towards a consistent 20c by the end of May. I don’t know about you, but I felt completely stung in the wardrobe department during the last ‘heatwave’. The only clothes cool enough (temp wise) were maternity dresses that were still lurking around from two years ago.

Anyway, not to labour on about an unsatisfactory wardrobe or the British weather, I have done a little advance planning so I am more prepared when it is time to don less attire. These are my top ‘throw on dresses’. They are simple and understated – easy to whack on when you are in a rush but want to stay cool.

G Star Boyfriend Denim Shirt Dress £100

Can’t go wrong with a shirt dress and in denim, it’s an even younger vibe.

Danielle Dress £75 Hush

If you dare to wear a bit of red, keep jewellery plain and shoes flat. Voila!

Florence Dress £60 Hush

Love the electric blue.

Whistles Josi Black Dress £95

Love a little black dress in the summer and this loose fit dress from Whistles is casual and chic.

Onlymyrina Summer Dress £23

For this price you could buy the mustard and the navy. It is long enough to wear solo and just about short enough to wear over jeans if you get a bit chilly.

Blue Summer Dress £34 Gap

Was undecided whether to put this on my upcoming ‘Holiday Dresses’ or here. So versatile – you could build sandcastles in it and hot foot it down the road to school.

Set Summer Dress £280

The price reflects the quality, so if you were looking for something that will last a few years in a universally flattering colour, this is for you.

Vanessa Bruno Sleeveless Ruffle Dress £210

I am very attracted to this colour. So much so, that I want this dress. (Although to pull of the low slung waist you have to have pretty long legs.)

Zalando Essentials £13

No, she she isn’t in scrubs (a surgeon doesn’t belt their waist!) It also comes in five other colours. At that price, it is worth a look.

‘School Run’ Boots

Some people notice eyes. Some people look at hair. I like to think I look for a vibe but in reality, when I meet someone for the first time my eye is drawn towards their feet. When I see a ‘school run mum’ teetering in high heels, firstly I look with admiration as I would look like a cross dresser most of the time if I wore such sky scrapers and then I wonder why would she do that to herself if she is turning straight back home to clean up breakfast. So, boots.

In recent years, I like to think I have found a happy medium between stylish (as stylish as high heels) and practical (as trainers). Here is a collection of the latest boots on the high street that you will be able to chase a scooter with and still rock a good look…

They are meant to look like they have been used. Saves scuffing them along the skirting boards when you get home before their first outing!

A friend at Diddi Dance was wearing a navy blue pair last week and they looked really good. Here is similar.

Black Suede Tassle Flat Knee High Boots £120 Aldo

Not for taking the dog for a walk after you drop the kiddies but they will take you stylishly into a cafe without any tottering.

Nellie Pull On Waterproof Boot £130 Timberland

I’m into my 3rd year with these Nellie’s. I bought them in brown and black and they are still going strong!

Easter Buckle Knee Boot £80 Office

Pretty standard but at the same time a classic. Only wear with very very tight jeans or you may look like Puss In Boots.

They speak for themselves. Love!

These are my new winter purchase and are slightly more acceptable than welly boots in London on a rainy day!
