Flying With 3 Kids

Take lollies and an Ipad and you will be fine. Ha. I wish it was that simple! Here are my top tips for flying with kids… and surviving.

We took our car to the airport due to car seats not being in taxis and all that shizzle. We used Park & Go as it was the cheapest at only £56 for the week. Couldn’t recommend it more and so nice to have your car ready for you on your return.

Check in online rather than at the aiport – the former’s queue is so much shorter and you can pick your seats (so you aren’t at the bag with the stag do).

Leave longer than you think. Due to stronger regulations and more safety precautions, the whole checking in and passport control takes alot longer than it used to. Not to mention the slog to the gate. I would get there atleast 2 hours before. (Oh how times have changed).

Take enough water for your journey up to secruity but empty all your water bottles before. They actually took a baby bottle with 3oz of water off to be tested which added another 20 minutes to our journey…

Cartons of milk are fine even if they are over the limit of 30ml of liquid. The airport secrutiy staff are still human!

These Anna Lomax bags are brilliant for your liquids.

Be the last one to board. Obviously, why make 3 children sit for longer than they have to!

Our youngest screamed on take off so I shut the blind and it calmed her down a bit. Just make sure no one sees you do it….

Walk, walk, walk up and down the aisle. It majorly annoys the airhostesses but it is preferable to trying to tame wild animals by keeping them in their seat and saves the person in front of them the constant obligatory kick in the seat.

I just didn’t take enough distractions namely stickers, snap. colouring as I thought they wouldn’t be interested. ERROR. Luckily, we had a kind Auntie who was well prepared and shared her bits and bobs and our youngest (when she had calmed down).

The Usborne Sticker books from Wordery are ace.

Pipity are a life line when it comes to travelling craft. Their carry cases are so practical, fun and filled with lots of activities.

Save up the technology for when you are desperate and make sure everything is fully charged!  Make sure it is password protected. I have just heard of a 6 year old totting up a £600 Apple bill. Here is a list of 56 Ipad apps and games for all ages, boys and girls. We love Toca Boca!

Snacks, snacks, snacks. These Go Go’s from Little Dish are easy, healthy and they don’t break easily in your bag.

Cheap car hire is probably cheap for a reason, that you have to collect the car from miles away. Check when you book how easy it is to collect your hire car.

Anyway, whatever it is, it’s fun and certainly something different from the normal park shmark etc. Just remember, if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail…  x
